Experienced Project Economist Wanted

SJR is now hiring a Project Economist with extensive experience for a consulting assignment with our client, one of Sweden's larger authorities, for a project lasting at least 36 months starting in early May. The office is located in Sundbyberg, and remote work is offered by agreement. You will be employed by SJR and work as a consultant for the authority. This position is security classified, and the candidate offered the assignment will need to undergo a security clearance before the assignment can start.

About the Position

The role involves working closely with project managers, lead project managers, and expert functions in complex and long-term project environments where the demands for structure, analysis, and quality are high. You will play a central role in financial management, forecasting, monitoring, and quality assurance across several parallel projects. The work takes place in an organization where both employees and consultants collaborate, and where the development of common methods and working practices is a natural part.

Responsibilities

• Support project managers and lead project managers in financial analyses and investigations
• Develop, quality assure, and follow up on project forecasts
• Create structure for financial monitoring, including work with changes, ongoing billing, risks, indices, and unforeseen costs
• Quality assure financial documentation and reporting
• Conduct regular analyses of deviations from forecasts and annual plans
• Present financial issues as needed in various forums
• Conduct training within the financial area
• Adapt work efforts according to the project's phase and needs

Suitable Background

You have a university degree in economics and at least ten years of experience in qualified financial work. Furthermore, you have at least five years of operational and project-related experience from larger construction or infrastructure projects with budgets of at least 0.5 billion SEK. You have worked in roles such as project economist or project controller and supported project managers in financial management. Experience with international partners and at least five years of experience with collaborative contracts or partnering is necessary. You are fluent in Swedish and English, both spoken and written.

You thrive in close collaboration with project managers and colleagues, take initiative, and actively contribute to the development of working methods. The role requires you to be flexible, communicative, and confident in presenting financial issues. You are humble, trustworthy, and work equally well independently and in a group. You handle administrative tasks with precision and efficiency.
