Assistant Nurse/Caregiver for Specialist Psychiatric Care Team

The Psychiatric Clinic at Norrland University Hospital in Umeå is the largest psychiatric clinic in Norrland with over 400 employees. We have three general psychiatric wards, forensic psychiatric services, several specialized outpatient clinics, and treatment units.

We are now looking for an assistant nurse/caregiver for our specialist psychiatric care team.

About the Position

The SPOT team (Specialist Psychiatric Care Team) is organizationally under the Acute and Assessment Unit. The purpose of SPOT is to reduce the need for hospital admissions and shorten the length of stay in inpatient care. They also collaborate with the clinic's outpatient services to support patients during deteriorations. The working methods of SPOT align with the development towards close care and aim to fill a function between outpatient and inpatient care.

The team's task will be to work intensively for shorter periods with patients suffering from severe psychiatric illness when deterioration occurs or in connection with discharge from inpatient care to ensure a safe return home. Our goal is to increase patients' ability to cope in their home environment.

The Psychiatric Clinic works for equitable care and treatment based on research and clinical experience.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

As an assistant nurse/caregiver with us, you contribute to taking good care of others and helping people feel better.

The tasks will be varied, focusing on the individual patient's needs. Examples of tasks include supportive and motivational conversations, crisis management, and assessments. We also work on developing sustainable structures together with the patient.

The assignment includes work during the day, as well as evenings and weekends. The work involves outpatient visits, home visits, and phone contacts.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone with a certified assistant nurse education. Since assistant nurse is a protected title, you need to present a certificate from the National Board of Health and Welfare, or alternatively a work certificate that allows you to use the title until June 30, 2033.

Experience in caring for psychiatric patients/users is an advantage. Knowledge and experience in areas such as eating disorder care, motivational interviewing, and FACT are also advantageous.

As a person, you are secure and stable with good self-awareness. You enjoy working in a varied environment, have good adaptability, and see opportunities in changes. It is important that you have good judgment and can make correct assessments and priorities in your work. We work in teams, and it is important that you can collaborate with colleagues in a smooth and attentive manner.

A valid driver's license (B) is required.
