Support Assistant/Staff for Daily Activities

In Skellefteå municipality, we work together across borders, in a work culture characterized by an unusually strong belief in the future. We are now looking for a support assistant/staff member for our staffing team within Daily Activities, Support, and Service.

In daily activities, we create meaningful employment for people with disabilities. The goal of the initiative is to develop the individual and their opportunities for work in the short and long term. We do this, among other things, by collaborating with companies, administrations, and associations. The assignment also includes some time in personal assistance and leisure activities within Support and Service operations.

RESPONSIBILITIES

As a support assistant/staff member in the staffing team, you will perform regular tasks during the absence of regular staff or when additional staff is needed. Most of the working hours are booked by the Staffing Center.

In Support and Service, we have a salutogenic approach and working method to enable individuals' own competence development. We focus on the user, where participation in society, independence in daily life, and choices in life are our vision. To achieve this, you will work with a pedagogical approach and apply a clarifying working method as a method.

You will work based on the individual's abilities and individual needs. This means that events, communication, and the environment should be made meaningful, understandable, and manageable. Your work includes supporting individuals to be as involved and independent as possible based on their conditions. In the staffing team, you will work in different workplaces/work teams, which requires you to easily adapt to changing conditions and adjust accordingly.

The work is based on established implementation plans and goals. As an employee, you should stimulate and safeguard the individual's participation and self-determination in the planning of these.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone who has experience working with people with various disabilities and experience working with children and youth. You have a good ability to flexibly adjust between different operations and adapt your work based on different situations and working methods. Education in care and nursing or the child and leisure program with a focus on individuals with special needs or other relevant education and work experience is meritorious.

You need to have good knowledge of low-arousal approaches, communication, and clarifying working methods. You have a health-promoting approach and see the healthy by utilizing and developing the individual's abilities. You are attentive and have knowledge and interest in working pedagogically. You enjoy working both independently and together with others.

A driving license (B) is a requirement for the job; having your own car is not a requirement.

Skellefteå municipality is a Finnish administrative municipality, so it is an advantage if you speak Finnish. If you can also use sign language, we see it as an asset in our operations.

OTHER

The employees of the Social Office provide care, support, and assistance to people throughout Skellefteå. They may be elderly, people with physical or mental disabilities, or individuals and families in need of special support for a period.

Our operations are located throughout the municipality, and we have specialists in several areas of care, support, and activation for people with disabilities, addiction treatment, family counseling, and much more.
