Integration Consultant at the Labor Market and Integration Department

The Labor Market and Integration Department is responsible for labor market issues and integration.

The department contributes to increased growth in Umeå municipality through ecological, social, cultural, and economic sustainability perspectives. The units enable change, development, and improved health through the right intervention, in the right way at the right time. The department is also a natural partner for individuals and businesses in the work with transition and skills supply.

Your Responsibilities

As an integration consultant, you will:

• Identify each individual's unique needs for psychosocial support during the establishment process.
• Support newcomers in understanding and anchoring the values that the Swedish society is based on.
• Conduct professional conversations that can be both supportive and motivating.
• Inform and guide newcomers during their establishment period, focusing on providing individually tailored support to promote an independent life in a new country.

An important part of the role is to build secure and long-term relationships with newcomers. You help them navigate a new culture and language, and contribute to strengthening their path to self-sufficiency through work, studies, and housing.

If necessary, you assist with practical tasks and participate in meetings related to various authorities. You convey information and coordinate contacts with relevant actors in areas such as economy, housing, childcare, school, leisure, labor market, healthcare, and parenting. The work involves daily collaboration with both on-site and telephone interpreters, as well as close cooperation with municipal operations and external actors.

About You

We are looking for someone who has:

• A relevant education in social sciences, behavioral sciences, social work, rehabilitation, or pedagogy.
• Practical experience working with integration, immigration, refugee reception, or similar areas.

Desirable qualifications:

• Experience working in multicultural environments.
• Practical experience collaborating with both internal and external actors.
• Knowledge of one or more languages from non-European regions.
