Specialist Physician in Upper Gastrointestinal Surgery

We are looking for someone with at least five years of subspecialization in upper gastrointestinal surgery. Job Responsibilities

The section conducts upper gastrointestinal surgery primarily concerning benign diseases. You will work with open surgery, conventional and robotic surgery, as well as endoscopy. The clinic has a large endoscopy unit where we perform ERCP and EUS, among other procedures. The section currently consists of eight senior physicians/specialists, and we continuously have several residents placed in the section.

About the Workplace

The Surgical Clinic at Västmanlands Hospital, Västerås, serves a catchment area of approximately 280,000 people and is divided into three sections: Upper GI, Lower GI, and Breast/Plastic/Endocrine sections. The clinic employs 30 specialists and about 11 residents.

Over 30 interns are trained annually, and we conduct education for medical candidates. We receive recurring praise for the pleasant atmosphere and collegiality at the clinic, and we have a well-documented good educational environment. Over 50% of our specialists hold a doctorate. Extensive research projects are conducted locally as well as in collaboration nationally and internationally. If you are interested in research, there are excellent opportunities for this. We collaborate with the Center for Clinical Research, which is part of the medical faculty at Uppsala University.

Qualifications

You are a specialist physician in surgery with at least five years of subspecialization in upper gastrointestinal surgery. You should focus on at least one of the following areas: ERCP, Obesity Surgery, minimally invasive hernia surgery.

We see that you are a stable and secure person who takes responsibility in your work and enjoys collaborating in a team with other professionals. You have a respectful approach in your interactions with patients, relatives, and colleagues. In the role of a physician, you will lead and mentor colleagues, so we require that you are clear in your communication and care about being understood and that you have understood what others want to convey to you. We have high demands on personal qualities.

Employment Conditions

Permanent position, full-time. Daytime with on-call duties. Start date according to agreement.
