Everyone we meet at the City Mission has a story.

Stories about finding a place to sleep, being hungry, being involuntarily alone, or being subjected to violence and threats. We meet the people behind the stories every day, all year round. And we work every day, all year round to provide them with opportunities for a better life. At the City Mission, you have the chance to make a real impact. You become part of something bigger, an organization where you can grow – both as an employee and as a person.

Do you have education and experience in social care and want to use your skills where they are truly needed? Join us in starting our new operation!

Now you have the chance to help build our new operation, Boende Isidor, which we run on behalf of Linköping Municipality. The operation targets adults experiencing homelessness with ongoing substance use, mental health issues, and/or comorbidity. Here, support is offered around the clock – with the individual's entire life situation in focus. The accommodation has 25 apartments and 8 emergency places. Here you will have the opportunity to work closely with people in vulnerable life situations and contribute to creating safety, structure, and hope in their daily lives.

About the role
As a housing supporter during awake night shifts, you are an important source of security for the participants when the day quiets down. You provide supervision and support based on each individual's needs and circumstances. You ensure that the participants are well during the night, handling any situations that may arise. You work proactively, motivating and supporting them in their pursuit of a more independent life – while also helping to reduce the harmful effects of substance abuse and mental health issues. You provide guidance and ensure that the house rules are followed for everyone's safety.

The work is based on the individual's implementation plan and involves contact with external actors and authorities as needed. An important part of the assignment is to document events and interventions and to make a clear handover to the day staff every morning. You have a structured approach that ensures that routines are followed and that the interventions maintain high quality. Together with your colleagues, you create a safe and meaningful environment for our residents – where each individual's needs are at the center.

Who are you?
You have a commitment to social work and a strong desire to make a difference – not just for the individual, but for society as a whole. You share our values and belief that all people have the right to a dignified life and want to work for a more humane society.

We are looking for someone who can create a safe, calm, and positive atmosphere – both in the workgroup and among our participants. You are relationship-building, empathetic, and clear in your communication. You find it easy to set boundaries and are confident in your professional role. Since our participants' needs vary, it is important that you are flexible, solution-oriented, and have good self-awareness. You enjoy collaborating but are also self-driven and can take your own initiatives. Structure, responsibility, and a professional approach are natural parts of your work. You express yourself well in both spoken and written language and have experience documenting according to applicable routines.

We are looking for someone who has:

  • Completed vocational training as a treatment pedagog, social pedagog, or has other education that the employer deems equivalent.
  • Documented knowledge of and/or experience working with addiction issues, mental health problems, and functional variations.
  • Experience in record-keeping/documentation
  • Driver's license (B)

It is an advantage if you have training in relapse prevention (ÅP), motivational interviewing (MI), low-arousal approaches, and/or independent living (ESL).

We place great emphasis on personal suitability.

Are you ready to make a difference? We welcome your application as soon as possible, recruitment is ongoing!

Other
- The shifts are scheduled at night with an awake service throughout the shift.
- The position may be preceded by a six-month probationary period.
- A criminal record check is required upon hiring.
