Medical Acute Care Unit, MAVA

MAVA is part of internal medicine in Gävle and has 20 care places. Here, acutely ill patients with medical problems are treated. The main diagnoses in the department include liver cirrhosis, liver failure, heart problems/arrhythmias, intoxication and dependency, diabetes, electrolyte disturbances, as well as patients with other medical issues such as infections, COPD, or reduced general condition. We work for fast flows and short hospital stays.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

At MAVA, the work is distributed among each care team between nurses and nursing assistants, and together they are responsible for five patients. Night staffing is divided between two nurses and two nursing assistants. In addition to the care teams, we have a receptionist and a care planner.

As a nurse with us, you will work with:

• preparation and administration of medications
• making quick assessments to maintain a high flow
• coordination of nursing and medical interventions in close collaboration with nursing assistants, doctors, and paramedics
• identifying risks and implementing measures based on the nursing process.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone who wants to work in an acute setting. You want to gain broad, general knowledge in acute care and enjoy teamwork. We are looking for both newly graduated and experienced nurses. As a person, you are flexible, understand rapid changes, and appreciate the variety in daily work. You should also have good collaboration skills, be attentive, and communicate well with others. We strive for the same common goals for our shared patients, and prioritizing work effectively is a prerequisite for doing a good job.

In the role of a nurse, you should:

• be a licensed nurse with the authority to work in Swedish healthcare
• be able to communicate fluently in Swedish, both spoken and written.
