We are looking for a certified teacher/special teacher for the central special education group Hugin.

Karlshamn Municipality operates a Central special education group for elementary school students with extraordinary needs for special support. The operations are based in Asarum, but teaching in other locations may also occur.
The goal is to offer special competence in adapted learning environments for students from the municipality's public elementary schools.

Currently, we have 13 students in Hugin, but enrollments and discharges occur continuously based on needs. Collaboration with the home schools where the students belong is sought after, and a student's placement in Hugin can vary in duration and scope.

The student's principal retains the legal responsibility for formal decisions regarding schooling. The purpose of Hugin's work is to create conditions for students to develop knowledge, values, and skills through individually designed adaptations. The framework for the work is the school's governing documents, the Curriculum for the Compulsory School (LGR 22), the Swedish National Agency for Education's general advice, and the Education Act. The design of the teaching requires individual adaptations based on each student's needs.

Job Responsibilities:
The assignment primarily consists of pedagogical work with students, individually and in groups, together with the work team, consisting of teachers and support staff, in close collaboration. Mentorship for students is also included in the job responsibilities.

You need to be able to take shared responsibility for the students' daily lives, the development of the work group, and the role of the operation as a special resource in the education administration's organization. A willingness to participate and contribute to joint education and regular supervision is a requirement, as well as a willingness and ability to collaborate closely with colleagues, students, guardians, home schools, and external partners.

Working with children and young people with neuropsychiatric disabilities, whose behaviors challenge the environment, places high demands on commitment, empathy, response, collaboration, and perseverance. You need to have knowledge about disabilities but above all knowledge of how to meet, motivate, and communicate with the specific student. A low-arousal response (LAB), a clear pedagogical approach with visual support, and collaborative problem-solving (CPS) are the foundation of our work. An unpretentious work climate is also required to continuously follow up and reconsider work and approaches to design effective support. Continuous support through supervision, both in groups and individually, is provided by the central child and student health services.

The assignment includes developing the operation together with colleagues and the unit manager for Hugin. 

Qualifications:
We are looking for a certified teacher/special teacher, with a focus on Mathematics grades 7-9, with knowledge, willingness, and ambition to continue developing Hugin together with the existing staff. Knowledge in the field of special education is an asset, as is experience working with students with neuropsychiatric disabilities. Qualification in mathematics and natural sciences is also meritorious. As a person, you have the ability and willingness to work in a team, are secure and stable, you have warmth and humor, and you are relationship-building. Flexibility with the child's best interests in focus permeates your work. A driver's license (B) is required.

The position is a full-time temporary position until 2026-06-30 with the possibility of extension. Start date according to agreement.
