The Hospital in Ystad is an acute care hospital with a wide range of specialized care, both emergency and planned. Annually, approximately 5,000 surgeries are performed here, of which about one-third are emergencies. The surgical operations include general surgery, gynecology, urology, orthopedics, and ear, nose, and throat surgery.

We are a relatively small unit with a pleasant work climate where everyone supports each other regardless of profession. We collaborate closely throughout the entire perioperative care chain and actively work with skills development through Region Skåne's Competence and Service Model. Our goal is to become a magnet department where engagement, participation, and development are a natural part of everyday life.

RESPONSIBILITIES

As a nurse with us, you will work in PreOP, the recovery department (UVA), and postoperative care. The work is varied and gives you a comprehensive view of the perioperative process.

In PreOP, you are responsible for assessing and preparing patients for surgery. This involves taking medical history, ensuring that preoperative checks are completed, premedicating, and providing information and creating security before the procedure. You may also assist with, for example, nerve blocks and central access.

In UVA and PostOP, you are responsible for the care and monitoring of patients after surgery. The work includes assessing vital parameters, pain management, handling nausea, fluid balance, and early mobilization. You work in a team with a focus on person-centered care in a high-tech environment where patient safety is always at the center.

We offer an individually tailored introduction based on your experiences and competencies. Working hours are primarily scheduled during the day, Monday to Friday, but may also include evenings, nights, and weekends depending on placement and the needs of the operation.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for a licensed nurse with the authority to practice within Swedish healthcare. Language skills in Swedish at least at level C1 according to the Council of Europe's level scale are required.

Experience in surgical care, emergency care, postoperative care, or intensive care is an advantage but not a requirement. An interest in perioperative care is a plus. For those who want to further develop, there is an opportunity for paid education for specialist training in intensive care, anesthesia, or surgery.
