Make a Difference. Every Day.
We are in an exciting period where we are thinking innovatively and will develop our operations. We are growing to meet healthcare needs and will expand our teams with two additional nurses.
Do you have a naturally empathetic approach and a genuine commitment to patient well-being? Do you thrive in a work environment where collaboration, participation, and a good climate are highly valued? Then you might be our new colleague! Here, you will work with the patient at the center in their own home environment and be part of a competent, warm, and close-knit team. Together, we create security, relief, and quality of life in one of life's most vulnerable phases.
The operation is organizationally part of Close Care and Health, Mobile Teams, and Specialized Palliative Care in southwestern Skåne. ASIH offers specialized palliative care and other advanced medical care at home, to patients of all ages residing in Malmö's catchment area. Care is provided in patients' own homes or in special accommodations.
The needs of the patients guide the visits; we perform medical and nursing assessments and interventions. We work independently but are part of interdisciplinary teams consisting of doctors, nurses, social workers, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, nursing assistants, dietitians, and medical secretaries. We have our own on-call line, and the team's doctors are available around the clock.
ASIH has full medical responsibility for enrolled patients and works with holistic, person-centered care, which is a prerequisite for providing dignified care at the end of life. ASIH is responsible for specialized care but collaborates with home healthcare when needed and home care for basic nursing. ASIH will consist of three teams and have a total of 60 care places from 2026-03-02. In addition, we have an outpatient team consisting of a palliative clinic and a point intervention team that performs point interventions for patients not enrolled in ASIH.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
The patients enrolled have a need for specialized palliative care, which means they have a complex symptom profile or that their life situation entails special needs. This can involve everything from injections, infusions, medication pumps, catheter placements, ascitic tapping, oxygen, and dressings to supportive conversations, family support, or assistance in contact with authorities, among other things.
All professionals meet in the teams in the morning and go through the day's planning. We primarily perform planned home visits during the day. Afternoons are then used for documentation, reflection rounds, team supervision, individual reflection, and development work. In the evenings and nights, one nurse per team is on duty. ASIH's phone is open 24/7, and we constantly make assessments and possible visits to patients who need it. In addition to the daily work, as a nurse, you will have admission conversations together with a doctor, participate in assessments for potential admissions, and continuously work with family and bereavement support. We work both day, evening, and night shifts.
As a new nurse with us, you will receive at least four weeks of shadowing. We use an introduction program that has been developed in the unit, and after completing the shadowing, you will follow a mentorship where you receive support from a specialist nurse in palliative care, based on your needs. We value development work and continuing education for both new hires and experienced staff. ASIH has a close collaboration with the palliative care department, which has 12 care places for inpatient care. We collaborate with the hospital and various clinics.
Does this sound exciting? Come and shadow us and see how we translate theory into practice and provide high-quality, person-centered care daily.
QUALIFICATIONS
We are looking for you who are a licensed nurse with permission to practice in Swedish healthcare, preferably with a few years of professional experience. Language skills in Swedish equivalent to at least level C1 according to the Council of Europe's scale are required. Since the operation consists of care places in the patient's own home or in special accommodations, a valid B driver's license for a manual transmission vehicle is required. We also prefer that you have specialist training in oncology and/or palliative care.
You who apply are secure in your professional role and have the patient in focus, which means you have the ability to see the patient as an individual and their needs. Part of the work involves support and conversations, so it is important that you are communicative and have the ability to meet people on different levels. You have a flexible approach and can prioritize between different tasks when the work pace is high. To thrive with us, you need to be able to work independently and make your own decisions. We see that you are willing to share your knowledge and cheerful demeanor to create a good work climate. We value a positive attitude and a willingness to participate in our development work. Since you will become an important employee in the operation, we place great emphasis on good collaboration skills and personal suitability.
In this recruitment, we apply ongoing selection. Warm welcome with your application today!
