Summer Temporary Positions in Testing Arenas

The Labor Market and Integration Department is responsible for the integration of newcomers, labor market issues, the activities for national minorities, and vulnerable EU migrants within Umeå Municipality.

We assist with guidance, create opportunities, and contribute to new pathways for people who need support to enter and progress in social and working life. As part of the Labor Market and Integration Department, there are testing arenas where we provide workplaces for participants offered work-oriented rehabilitation.

Testing Arenas

The Testing Arenas operate based on two main missions: work testing and reuse. This means that the Testing Arenas offer places for participants who need support to move towards self-sufficiency – and the work tasks are within the reuse activities that take place. The work-oriented rehabilitation primarily occurs in collaboration with Social Services, the Social Insurance Agency, the Employment Agency, and Region Västerbotten, and the reuse work is conducted in collaboration with Vakin and internally within Umeå Municipality.

At the heart of our operations is the Return Store/construction reuse. With a total store area of approximately 1,900 square meters, we are Norrland's largest reuse store. Our premises are filled with clothes, furniture, bicycles, household goods, books, toys, films, music, paintings, and some building materials.

Your Tasks

We need you who can independently and together with others work with the flow of reused goods from the reuse houses/ABC economic association to customers in the return store/construction reuse. The tasks involve sorting, reviewing used goods, pricing, and displaying/selling the items in the return store/construction reuse. The work includes customer interaction and staffing our cash register.

Additionally, other tasks that occur in our operations may also become relevant, such as some cleaning or driving food transport.

The working hours are scheduled for days/evenings/weekends, where you work approximately every other Saturday.

About You

We are looking for someone who has a high school diploma and good knowledge of Swedish and English. We prefer that you have a B driver's license and experience in collaboration with others, customer service, and cash handling – but these are not requirements.

As a person, you are professional, flexible, and responsible. You have a good ability to structure and plan your work. You are someone with a high sense of service and good collaboration skills. You are a team player – but the work requires that you can work independently and take your own initiatives. We place great importance on personal qualities and suitability – as you will also work in a somewhat guiding role.
