Operations Manager for Nolia Sports Center

The Leisure Administration within Umeå Municipality aims to contribute to a good living environment by creating opportunities for an active leisure time with sports, exercise, recreation, and public health. The scope of the operations includes the management and operation of sports and leisure facilities, recreational areas, facilities for leisure boats, as well as initiatives within recreational fishing and outdoor life. The Leisure Administration, through the municipality's joint Association Bureau, is responsible for the overall preparation, follow-up, and evaluation of the municipality's support for the association sector, as well as strengthening contacts between the municipality's various representatives and the organized association life.

The Operations Department is responsible for staffing at our larger sports facilities: Nolia Sports Center, Gammlia Sports Center, and Tegs Sports Center, as well as facilities in Holmsund and Hörnefors.

Other sports and leisure facilities in the municipality are managed by our mobile operations team based in Västerslätt. This group is responsible for the maintenance of ice rinks, school sports fields, local sports fields, artificial and natural grass pitches, sports fields, equipment rental, outdoor swimming pools, boating, outdoor life, and the maintenance of Bräntberget.

Your Responsibilities

Your main responsibilities include managing the operation, maintenance, and daily care of Nolia Sports Center. This involves ensuring that facilities and equipment are in good condition, performing minor repairs, maintaining ice and field conditions, and contributing to creating a safe and welcoming environment for associations, schools, and the public. You will also participate in other tasks related to sports activities that may arise in daily operations.

About You

We are looking for someone with a completed upper secondary education and experience in a service profession. We prefer that you have a license for a forklift, quad bike, and/or wheel loader. Experience working with these, as well as with an ice machine, is also an advantage.

The position requires a B driver's license as you need to be able to travel between different facilities and operate work vehicles during your duties. You also need to have good knowledge of Swedish in both spoken and written form as the job involves daily communication with colleagues, associations, schools, and visitors, as well as handling written documentation and safety procedures. Basic knowledge of English is important as we regularly meet international visitors, event participants, and athletes.

This position involves heavy lifting. Good physical health is an important prerequisite for handling certain heavy tasks. As a person, you are flexible and have the ability to take initiative; you can work independently as well as collaborate well with others. We place great emphasis on personal suitability.

Other Information

The position refers to two specific fixed-term part-time positions (25%), with a planned start date of 2026-08-01 until 2027-04-30. Working hours are scheduled for both daytime and evening shifts, as well as weekends.
