Lighting Technician for Skellefteå Municipality

YOUR ROLE

As a lighting technician, you will work with the operation, maintenance, and new installation of the municipality's lighting systems. This mainly involves street lighting, but also lighting in parks, traffic signal systems, and some parking facilities.

The work is mostly done from a lift, and you usually work together with a colleague. The workdays are varied, and you plan and carry out tasks together as a team.

Your tasks may include:

• troubleshooting and resolving issues in lighting systems
• replacing fixtures, light sources, and components
• working with electrical installations during new construction and renovations
• documenting completed work in digital systems and mapping tools

The work is practical, takes place outdoors, and varies throughout the year.

YOUR COMPETENCE AND EXPERIENCE

For the role, an electrical technical education at the high school or post-secondary level, or equivalent competence that we assess as comparable, is required. The education provides you with the foundation needed to work safely and securely with the tasks included in the job.

You also need to have:

• B and C driver's licenses
• sufficient knowledge of Swedish to understand verbal and written instructions and to communicate in work
• basic digital skills, as documentation and follow-up take place in systems
• good physical conditions, as the work involves lifting, outdoor work, and working at heights during parts of the workday

Work experience in the electrical field, such as installation, operation, or maintenance, is a plus.

BE driver's license and training such as Work on the Road and Hot Work are also valuable in the role. If you have additional qualifications or training relevant to the assignment, we consider it an asset.

YOUR NEW WORKPLACE

The lighting department is responsible for approximately 700 lighting installations with around 28,000 light points throughout Skellefteå Municipality – in the city, service areas, and rural areas. We also work with traffic signal systems and support the park operations with lighting.

You will be part of an experienced team of about ten employees who together ensure that the municipality is safe, secure, and well-lit. The working hours are typically 07:00–16:00, with good opportunities for a balance between work and leisure.
