Welcome to Sundsvall Municipality!
Sundsvall Municipality is one of the largest employers in Norrland with around 8,000 employees and over 300 professions. Together, we fulfill one of the most important missions in society – to create benefit and value for residents, businesses, and future generations. Regardless of the activity, we work towards the same goal: to be a great place to live, work, and thrive.
We are currently in an exciting phase of development. We are a leader in digital development and artificial intelligence, and we are at the forefront of creating smart solutions for the future public sector.
Sundsvall plays a central role in the green transition in northern Sweden. We are convinced that the right places for this transition are here. As a municipality, we are preparing to grow by developing land, creating new educational opportunities, marketing the municipality, and welcoming new residents from around the world.
Your new workplace
The mission of the Support Center is to provide support and, if necessary, protection to adults who are victims of violence in close relationships, as well as to provide support to perpetrators of violence, honor-related violence, and oppression. The center also includes cross-county Mika and KAST operations.
Mika is a reception for individuals who sell sex for compensation. KAST is a reception for individuals who buy sex. We also provide support to relatives of these target groups.
Within social services, a comprehensive transformation work is underway based on the intentions of the new Social Services Act, focusing on accessible services with an increased emphasis on early preventive measures of good quality and a high degree of participation.
The Support Center unit consists of six social workers and is led by a unit manager. With us, you will work in an environment characterized by collegial support and shared responsibility. Employees receive external supervision and regular case discussions in groups. We value a good working climate with high care for one another and strong support within the workgroup.
We are now looking for two social workers: one for a 6-month temporary position and one for a permanent position.
Your contribution as a social worker
As a social worker with us, you will work with qualified authority exercise according to the Social Services Act. Your assignment includes handling and investigating cases primarily focused on violence in close relationships and the target group within Mika and KAST, where you will make decisions and follow up on interventions.
The work includes:
- Investigations according to the Social Services Act
- Support conversations in individual cases and group activities
- Protection placements, both internal and external
- Assessments and follow-up of interventions
- Documentation and legally secure case handling
The unit applies the 6+2 working method, where 6 hours/day are client-oriented and workplace-based, and 2 hours/day can be devoted to further education, business development, wellness, additional training, recovery, and reflection. If the operations allow, there is also the possibility of remote work.
Your qualifications and experience
We are looking for someone who:
- Has a degree in social work or another academic degree that the employer considers equivalent
- Has experience working within the social services' area of responsibility, as well as in psychosocial treatment work and work with men's violence against women
- Has good knowledge of Swedish, both spoken and written, as well as English spoken
- Has basic IT skills and experience with digital documentation
- Holds a valid driver's license (B)
Desirable qualifications include further training in basic psychotherapy (step 1), training in men's violence against women, and advanced training in conversation methodology (MI).
To thrive in this role, we are looking for someone who is secure, empathetic, and professional in their interactions. You enjoy an independent role where you take responsibility for your cases, work in a structured and careful manner, and drive your work forward with commitment. At the same time, you have good collaboration skills and value working together with colleagues and partners. You also have the ability to prioritize, remain calm, and make well-founded decisions during periods of high workload and in a job that can sometimes be unpredictable.
We place great emphasis on personal suitability!
