Job Responsibilities

As a personal assistant, your primary task is to provide support and care to the individual receiving assistance based on their assistance decision and established implementation plan. Documentation is done in a social journal. The tasks are carried out based on the individual's influence, participation, and self-determination with attentiveness and respect.

You will be working with a child born in 2017 who needs daily support due to extensive disabilities. The tasks as a personal assistant vary and are primarily performed in the individual's home, which is located within a 5 km radius outside the city center. Support includes daily hygiene, dressing and undressing, tube feeding, mobility assistance, play, and helping the child do as much as possible of what a child of their age typically does.

Currently, we are looking for a colleague for a 3-month temporary position who can work days/evenings and every other weekend. The work follows a fixed schedule of six weeks, covering days, evenings, and weekends. During the weeks, school occurs two days a week, swimming one day a week, and daily training at home. The workgroup consists of three staff members working days/evenings and three staff members working awake nights.

In the fall of 2025, assistance will transition to VAS (activity-adapted schedules), and personal assistants will be offered full-time positions within Örnsköldsvik Municipality.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who is a nursing assistant or has other education or experience that the employer deems sufficient. We prefer candidates with further education or training related to disabilities.

Experience in healthcare and social care is an advantage. If you have experience with non-verbal communication, tube feeding, epilepsy, respiratory masks, cough machines, and experience with medication delegation and using mobility aids, that is also a plus.

It is important that you enjoy and thrive in working with people and that you are flexible and open to new ideas and methods to meet the needs and wishes of the individual receiving assistance. Your approach towards the user and their family needs to be trustworthy, attentive, and calm.

The job requires sufficient knowledge of Swedish, both spoken and written, to perform documentation and to advocate for the user. We place great importance on personal suitability for the position.

A valid driver's license, category B, and access to a personal vehicle are advantageous as they can facilitate work.
