Ward 18 is a general psychiatric inpatient ward belonging to the Psychiatry Northwest clinic.

The main focus of the ward is on depression, anxiety, and personality disorders, but we also care for patients with other psychiatric difficulties. We have 16 beds and accept patients aged 18 to 65 years. The ward is staffed by nursing assistants, nurses, doctors, social workers, and occupational therapists. The ward is located in the S:t Göran hospital area with good transport links.

Our ward is in constant development, and we place great emphasis on work environment and patient safety. Feedback and reflection are important parts of our teamwork. Throughout Psychiatry Northwest, we work according to the so-called “Bergen model,” which is taught during the initial period.

We strive for clear structure and daily routines to create safety for everyone in daily work. Competence development is part of the operations, and various training sessions are offered continuously throughout the terms.

Furthermore, we have a Patient Forum where patients' views on care are taken into account every week by an external resource called BISAM. We receive very good feedback on how the ward functions, and BISAM collaborates with EC to implement improvements to the greatest extent possible.

Many of our improvements are based on ideas and feedback from our patients.

We work based on the model One Conversation a Day/ESOD to strengthen the therapeutic relationship and promote recovery. Our Calm Room, with its soothing and sensory-stimulating environment, is a valued resource for anxiety management and sleep prevention.

In the spring of 2023, we introduced the method of Self-Selected Admission (SI), and in the spring of 2024, we started a project where we offer CBT-oriented conversations as part of psychiatric treatment. Patient participation and influence are central to our working methods and permeate our entire operation.

We have various working groups responsible for development work in the ward, such as patient safety and involvement of relatives. Our ward meetings are a forum for staff to express opinions and influence development issues.

In the ward, we work in care teams where nurses and nursing assistants collaborate. As a nursing assistant, you play a central role in psychiatric care, focusing on creating safety for the patient, providing support in daily routines, facilitating communication, and coordinating efforts based on the patient's goals. The work also includes some somatic care, collaboration with the patient's network, and contact with relatives.

We use Take Care as our medical record system.

Qualifications

You who are applying should be a trained nursing assistant with proof of protected professional title. Previous experience in psychiatric care is considered an asset. We place great importance on qualities such as solution-focused, positive, flexible, and the ability to prioritize among varying tasks. Collaboration skills and an unpretentious attitude are other important qualities for the role.
