IT Specialist with a Focus on IT Security

About the Workplace
The development has led to an increased need for digital solutions both in municipalities like ours and in society at large. With this, the threats to our IT environment have also increased, and to manage this, our team responsible for operations and security needs to be strengthened with an IT specialist focused on IT security. The role involves largely proactive work but also direct handling of incidents when necessary.
The IT unit works with service and support for colleagues in other operations in the municipality, where most work directly with the residents of Ale. Everything we do should benefit our colleagues in other operations and the municipal residents.
We are a small unit where everyone has varied work that requires seeing the benefit and the whole for our users. Our tasks range from the digital workplace for the municipality's students and staff to managing the operation and maintenance of networks and servers. Additionally, we contribute to the municipality's development of digital tools through development projects in collaboration with the operations.
Job Responsibilities
As an IT specialist with a focus on security, you will be involved in securing Ale municipality's IT environment. You are part of the team that works proactively to prevent future threats and monitors and reacts quickly to security incidents. Part of your work involves identifying and analyzing potential threats, developing security policies, implementing technical solutions, and continuously monitoring systems.
The role also includes daily work with the municipality's infrastructure in networking and communication. The position may also be part of our emergency response function.
In our unit, we work together. This means that your tasks may also encompass other areas and issues beyond IT security, and collaboration with other colleagues working with different parts of the operations is an important aspect.
Examples of Job Responsibilities
- Conduct and lead security reviews and vulnerability assessments within IT projects and systems
- Participate in procurements to monitor security requirements
- Monitor the environment and interpret new laws and regulations regarding IT security, such as NIS2, OSL, GDPR
- Collaborate with other internal and external stakeholders on issues related to information and IT security
- Monitor networks and systems to detect threats and analyze improvement opportunities
- Develop training packages for the municipality's staff on security.
- Create necessary governing documents regarding the municipality's IT security
- Implement and maintain security measures to protect the municipality's IT systems and networks
- Troubleshoot and resolve network and security-related issues.
- Act as project leader or project participant in various projects based on your profile.
Qualifications
To fulfill the assignment, you need to have relevant education, knowledge, and experience in your field. We expect you to work systematically in project form and in collaboration with users.
For the position, you should have at least 2 years of post-secondary education in IT with a focus on IT security and work experience in the field.
