The Nephrology department at Skåne University Hospital (Sus) is responsible for basic kidney care in southwestern Skåne as well as advanced nephrological care within the Southern Healthcare Region, where we are a regional operation. The nephrology clinic includes four hemodialysis outpatient clinics, inpatient care facilities in Lund and Malmö, outpatient clinics in Lund and Malmö, and a clinic in each location for training and follow-up of patients in peritoneal dialysis. In Lund, home hemodialysis services and pediatric dialysis services are also provided in collaboration with pediatric nephrologists. Experimental and clinical research in nephrology is conducted with a focus on kidney physiology and peritoneal dialysis, autoimmunity in kidney diseases, epidemiology, transplantation, and several patient-centered projects.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

We are now welcoming a resident physician (ST-läkare) to our medical team in Nephrology in Lund and Malmö. The primary placement is in Malmö, but in accordance with the guidelines of Region Skåne, parts of your residency will be conducted at other hospitals within Region Skåne. Specialist training is preferably offered in a combination of nephrology and internal medicine. As a resident physician with us, you will receive comprehensive training across the entire nephrology field and participate in our extensive teaching and research.

The specialist training will be offered under the regulations of the residency ordinance. Training will be provided in nephrology and the internal medicine clinics necessary to meet the objectives. Participation in medical/emergency on-call duties according to competence and nephrology on-call service will be included in all placements.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone who wants to learn to lead the multiprofessional teamwork within nephrology and enjoys working with chronically ill patients. The work places high demands on empathy and emotional competence. We place great importance on personal suitability.

Regarding formal requirements, you are a licensed physician authorized to practice within Swedish healthcare. Additionally, you have language skills in Swedish corresponding to at least level C1 according to the Council of Europe’s scale. You have an interest in and are willing to participate in the teaching that takes place within the organization. Previous experience in nephrology and/or internal medicine, as well as demonstrated activity and engagement in nephrological research, are meritorious for the position. It is also an advantage if you have completed a mid-term evaluation, dissertation, and/or established your own research line.
