We are now looking for a new employee who has an interest in infection prevention and who finds it easy to work independently and in a team.

The Infection Control Unit works regionally and is tasked with preventing and reducing the spread of infectious and healthcare-associated infections within healthcare and social services in Region Örebro County. We also monitor the epidemiological situation in the region and provide support during outbreaks of, for example, resistant bacteria. Organizationally, Infection Control is under the Operations and Management Support - Patient Safety Center. The unit is located in the USÖ area, but we work throughout the county. Our responsibilities include the region's three hospitals, primary care, public dental care, and the municipalities in the county. The Infection Control team consists of two infection control physicians and five infection control nurses. The unit is characterized by good team spirit, effective communication, and high competence.

Infection Control Physician/ST Physician within Infection Control, Patient Safety Center

As an infection control physician, you will work in a well-functioning team and in close collaboration with infection control nurses, the infection control unit, the infectious diseases clinic, clinical microbiology, and the patient safety center.

• Outbreak management of, for example, multi-resistant bacteria within healthcare and social services.
• Educate healthcare personnel and students in infection prevention and infection control routines and serve as a consultant in infection control matters.
• Develop appropriate local infection control guidelines based on evidence, national guidelines, and legal regulations.
• Provide infection control expertise in property matters regarding ventilation, planning, and renovation.

The work is varied and largely dependent on current events, which means handling urgent infection control issues as well as long-term strategic work in infection prevention.

We are looking for you who are a licensed and trained infection control physician or a licensed physician, preferably with ST/specialization in infectious medicine or clinical microbiology, but we also welcome licensed physicians with a particular interest in healthcare-associated infections and infection prevention as well as STRAMA issues. Scientific competence and previous experience in infection control work are meritorious.

Employment Information:

Permanent employment with 100% working hours. Working hours are scheduled for weekdays from 8 AM to 4:30 PM. The position may also include a lower working percentage at the unit to allow for combination with other clinical duties or research.
