Study and Career Counselor at Adult Education

The Gymnasium and Adult Education Board is responsible for the municipality's commitments according to school legislation for upper secondary school, adapted upper secondary school, municipal adult education, special education for adults, and Swedish language instruction for immigrants. The board is also responsible for work-oriented rehabilitation and the municipal refugee reception. We collaborate to ensure that the municipality's citizens learn, develop, and can live an independent life. We have Sweden's most important job - our mission is to instill hope for the future.

We are now looking for someone who wants to work as a study and career counselor with us at Adult Education!

Employment Information

The position is a full-time temporary position, starting as soon as possible by agreement until 2026-08-09.

There is a possibility for continued permanent employment. There is no option for hybrid work.

Your Responsibilities

As a study counselor at Adult Education Umeå, you will guide prospective and current students to educational programs in both internal and external settings as well as various school forms. Your responsibilities include common tasks for study and career guidance, such as following up on individual study plans, conducting counseling sessions, and providing information to individuals and groups. The work also involves collaboration with various authorities, municipalities, educational providers, as well as companies and industries. As a study and career counselor, we expect you to be proactive, identify areas for development, and take the initiative for actions aimed at change and improvement.

About You

You have high social competence, good communication and collaboration skills, and find it easy to build trusting relationships with colleagues, companies, and students. You are engaged, self-driven, and structured, with good prioritization skills and a quality-conscious work approach. Furthermore, you are flexible, relationship-building, and enjoy working both independently and in teams. We place great importance on personal qualities that are crucial for success in the role.

Requirements

• Degree from the study and career counseling program, or other education we deem relevant for the assignment
• Experience with digital tools and various operational systems, as well as an aptitude for learning new digital systems
• Fluent knowledge of the Swedish language in speech and writing, as well as good knowledge of English

Meritorious

• Experience working in adult education or guidance related to adult students
