There are schools where 7 out of 10 students do not meet the requirements for high school eligibility. At the non-profit Stiftelsen Läxhjälpen, you contribute your skills and commitment to help more students meet the eligibility requirements with confidence for the future.

We are now looking for new tutors in Skellefteå! We are looking for someone interested in a paid part-time job while also wanting to make a concrete societal contribution. The position is a temporary employment in the afternoons/evenings and involves being a tutor after school at one of our partner schools. With us, you work in a team of three tutors, all of whom are university students. You will receive training in and work according to our structured approach. Each tutoring group consists of 15 students, and together with your colleagues, you are responsible for planning, implementing, and following up on the work.

As a tutor, you can either work as a regular tutor or a substitute. As a regular tutor, you work 6 hours a week spread over two scheduled afternoons/evenings (opportunity for extra shifts is available). As a substitute, you work when the regular tutor is on leave or sick. The work is performed after school hours in the school's premises.

We are looking for someone who:

• Is a university or college student
• Has pedagogical skills and can communicate and build relationships with children and young people.
• Is solution-oriented, proactive, and can work according to our structured approach and method.
• Has a broad foundational subject competence and good study techniques.
• Shares the values and vision of Stiftelsen Läxhjälpen for a society where all children grow up with the conditions to succeed in school and shape their own future.

Since the job involves working with children, we place great importance on personal suitability. A police record extract for the employer is a legal requirement to work with children and young people.

The differences between schools, where you live, where you come from, and what your parents do increasingly determine how likely you are to succeed in school. Stiftelsen Läxhjälpen is a non-profit foundation that operates where it is needed most. Tutoring is free for students, and the salaries of the tutors are funded through support from the business community and the public sector.

Tutoring is a concrete effort that addresses one of Sweden's biggest problems today - that more and more young people are failing in school and risk becoming marginalized. Carefully selected, paid university students help young people with their studies two evenings a week and are also positive role models and mentors. Since our inception in 2007, we have developed a structured approach and a clear goal - grades must improve, and students must progress to high school. We are currently in over 100 schools in Stockholm, Södertälje, Västerås, Norrköping, Gothenburg, Landskrona, Umeå, Sundsvall, Uppsala, Gävle, and Malmö.
