We have exciting development work ahead of us in 2026. We are building a collaborative culture characterized by trust, curiosity, and responsibility – a culture where we get better together!
About the Position
As a museum host, you are the face of the museum and work to welcome the museum's visitors through good hospitality. The role involves work in the reception and shop, patrolling the exhibitions, guiding visitors, and participating in various program activities. You are active in meeting visitors and assisting with information about the exhibitions. Since we offer guided tours, it will be necessary to conduct tours in both Swedish and English. As a museum host, you will have varied tasks based on the needs of the organization, and you must be prepared to step in where needed. During evening events, you will assist with tasks such as arranging furniture and managing audience entry. It is common for the museum to receive booked visits even in the evening, which means that there may be work beyond scheduled working hours.
Your Skills and Experience
You should have completed secondary education and previous experience working in outreach roles within the tourism industry or from similar service-oriented activities that we deem equivalent. It is important that you enjoy an outgoing and proactive role and that you want to convey the museum's subject area to our visitors. You have a good ability to express yourself in Swedish and English, both verbally and in writing, and it is beneficial if you also speak German and/or Polish. It is an advantage if you have experience with guided tours, educational activities, knowledge of the history of the Swedish Navy, and familiarity with Karlskrona and its World Heritage.
Personal Qualities
We will place great emphasis on personal qualities. You have a positive attitude and a high degree of service orientation. You are outgoing, and it comes naturally for you to contact our visitors and offer good hospitality. You are a quick learner, take your own initiatives during your workday, and easily adapt to a varied environment that involves several different tasks. You have a high ability to collaborate and enjoy a role where you collectively take responsibility for creating a pleasant work environment and achieving set goals together.
