About the Company

Every time you fly, almost anywhere in the world, it is likely that GKN Aerospace is helping you on your way. Our technology and components are used in 90% of the world's aircraft, from small and large passenger planes, business jets, to the world's most advanced fighter jets. We also design and manufacture innovative components for space systems.

We are constantly evolving, paving the way for new technology and challenging ourselves to be better in everything we do. We are looking for driven and passionate employees who want to make a difference! Join us in influencing the sustainable transformation of the aerospace industry and find a place where your career can take off in a world of enormous opportunities to learn and grow.

Your Responsibilities

As a computational engineer, you will work in cross-functional teams and bring your knowledge and responsibility for aerodynamics to the team. Your main focus will be on modeling and performing thermal analyses on engines and engine components using both commercial and in-house developed tools.

With us, you will have the opportunity to work on everything from concept analyses for future aircraft engines to maintenance issues in today's aircraft engines. Additionally, we continuously develop our methods, technologies, and tools where you can make a significant contribution.

Your responsibilities include, for example:

  • Modeling and simulation of complex geometries within heat transfer calculations, hand calculations, etc.

  • Performing thermal and network analysis (secondary air) of engines and engine components

  • Developing and implementing our analysis methods and internal tools for modeling thermal loads (Python, Matlab)

  • Supporting the design team to optimize products to defined program goals

  • Establishing loads to be used as input in structural analyses

  • Method and technology development

  • Validation/correlation of computational models against reality

  • Validation of method and component design through testing, measurement instrument definition, test support, and data analysis

  • Representing the company in collaboration with academic and/or industrial partners

Your Profile

To be successful in this role, we see that you have a few years of experience in a similar area of responsibility. Fundamentally, we believe that you have a master's degree in aerospace engineering, engineering physics, mathematics, or another relevant engineering education, or equivalent knowledge gained through experience.

Since the position involves contact points both internally and externally, you should be fluent in Swedish and English, both spoken and written. As a person, you are well-organized and quality-conscious while being able to work proactively and independently. You have good collaboration skills and thrive in interaction with colleagues both within the team and across other functions. Of course, you have a genuine interest in jet engines and thermodynamics and are attracted to long-term development together with GKN.

Application Procedure

In this recruitment, GKN Aerospace collaborates with Skill. The position is a consultancy assignment where you will initially be employed by Skill with good chances of transitioning to GKN.

If you have any questions about the position, please feel free to contact the responsible recruiter Johan Zizala, [email protected]
