Category Manager Indirect Procurement

Fagersta Stainless is one of the leading manufacturers in the world of stainless steel wire rod and drawn wire. Our headquarters and production are located in Fagersta, Sweden. In our rolling mill, we produce approximately 50,000 tons of wire rod annually, of which about 10,000 tons are further processed into drawn wire. Fagersta Stainless has a turnover of approximately 160 million Euros and around 250 employees. Our products are sold worldwide either directly from us or through a network of representatives. Fagersta Stainless is part of the Marcegaglia group, a global leader in steel manufacturing.

The owner of Fagersta Stainless, Marcegaglia, has invested 1.2 billion SEK in our operations. Our goal? To become Europe’s largest production facility for wire and bar made of stainless steel. Therefore, we are looking for a Category Manager responsible for indirect procurement within the organization. The role aims to ensure cost efficiency, delivery reliability, quality, and sustainability.

About the Role

As the Category Manager for Indirect Procurement, you will be responsible for MRO, consultants, indirect logistics, and stocked spare parts. You will work strategically with spend analyses, supplier selection, procurement, and contract negotiations to ensure cost efficiency, quality, and delivery reliability. You will implement the procurement strategy, monitor KPIs, and identify risks that may affect the business. The role involves close collaboration with both internal functions and external suppliers, as well as driving improvement work and developing the category in the long term.

About You

We are looking for someone with several years of experience in strategic procurement or category management, preferably from the industrial sector – with merit in steel or heavy industry. You have post-secondary education in procurement, logistics, or engineering and are skilled in Excel and Power BI. You are analytical, communicative, and accustomed to change management. You are fluent in both Swedish and English, both spoken and written, and work effortlessly in the Office suite. You take initiative, collaborate without prestige, and drive work forward with both a holistic perspective and good structure.
