About the job

Do you want to contribute to the negotiation and formulation of harmonized regulations for road and rail traffic within various international organizations, such as the EU and the UN? If so, this position is for you.

The International Coordination Section at the Road and Rail Department coordinates international work for road and rail at the Swedish Transport Agency. We are now looking for a person to join our team of international coordinators.

You will

  • coordinate the department's international work, including supporting governance and prioritization of efforts
  • participate and represent Sweden at international meetings based on the needs of the organization
  • develop and follow up on processes and routines for international work and its application in the department
  • support the preparation of international issues
  • ensure the quality of materials for instructions that the department submits to the Government Offices before international meetings
  • prepare and propose delegations for international meetings
  • support the department's participation in international meetings and travels
  • maintain ongoing contacts with the Government Offices
  • lead various types of internal working groups and contribute to strategic coordination.

You must have

  • a relevant academic degree for the position, such as in political science, social science, or engineering, or equivalent knowledge acquired in another way
  • experience in international negotiation work
  • good ability to express yourself well in speech and writing in Swedish and English.

It is meritorious if you also have

  • experience in international regulatory work, preferably in the transport sector
  • experience in preparation routines and division of responsibilities between government and authority
  • knowledge of the EU and UN institutions and decision-making processes, particularly related to regulatory work.

The employment is permanent with placement at one of the agency's operational locations: Norrköping, Örebro, Borlänge, Stockholm, Arjeplog, Visby, Kristianstad, Gothenburg, Härnösand, Malmö, Mariestad, or Umeå.

Appointment according to agreement.

We normally apply a probationary employment. As an employee with us, there is an opportunity to work remotely up to three days a week. The needs of the operation and the nature of the tasks will determine whether and to what extent this is possible. An employment with us may involve placement in a security class. A security review with a background check according to the Security Protection Act (2018:585) may therefore be conducted. For some of our tasks in a security class, Swedish citizenship is required.

Number of employees: Approximately 2000.

Operational locations: We have employees at 12 locations in the country. The majority of the operations are in Borlänge, Norrköping, and Örebro. The headquarters is located in Norrköping.
