Department of Wildlife, Fish and Environment

A researcher position is open at the Department of Wildlife, Fish and Environment at SLU, Umeå.

About the Job

The researcher will work on the analysis and modeling of long ecological time series to study synchrony in population dynamics of salmonids. The researcher is expected to actively contribute to the department's research environment while simultaneously developing their own research profile and external funding.

Your Background

Requirements:

  • PhD in ecology or equivalent
  • Documented experience in research within aquatic ecology
  • A broad background in the analysis and modeling of ecological data at species and metapopulation levels within river networks

Qualifications that are meritorious:

  • Experience working with standardized monitoring data from aquatic systems (e.g., electrofishing and aquaculture data), including quality assurance and analysis
  • In-depth knowledge of the ecology of various salmonid species, particularly in relation to life cycles, migration, and population regulation in rivers and seas
  • Experience in analyzing synchrony or covariation in ecological systems
  • Experience working in international networks, project management, and interdisciplinary teams
  • Skills in R for statistical analysis and GIS
