The Department of Molecular Biology is now seeking a teaching assistant for the Master's program in Biotechnology
For a fixed-term position of 3.5 months, comprising 10 percent of full-time, with start date by agreement.
Job Responsibilities
The role of the teaching assistant involves being employed by Umeå University and working on tasks related to the Master's program in Biotechnology at the Department of Molecular Biology. The work may include joint program activities such as study visits, inviting speakers to inspirational seminars, and outreach activities, such as presenting the program to school classes, participating in outreach events, and ensuring that the website is updated. The work also includes communication and program-related surveys with current and graduated students, known as alumni, creating and maintaining a LinkedIn page for both alumni and current students, and actively participating in program council meetings.
Qualifications
We are looking for a candidate who meets the following criteria:
- You are registered as an active student in the Master's program in Biotechnology at Umeå University
- You have good social skills and a strong interest in improving and developing the Biotechnology program
- You have the ability to work both independently and in a team
- You have at least 45 higher education credits within the program.
Great emphasis will be placed on personal qualities. The selection among applicants will be based on qualifications, suitability, and experience in similar tasks. We strive for a balanced gender distribution and therefore encourage both female and male applicants.
Eligibility
Employment as a teaching assistant is governed by the Higher Education Ordinance (Chapter 5). Eligible for employment as a teaching assistant is the student who is admitted to education at the undergraduate or advanced level at a university or college (HF Chapter 5 §10).
