APL, Apotek Produktion & Laboratorier AB, is tasked with manufacturing extemporaneous medicines that are individualized medications for a specific patient, aimed at improving and saving lives. Many preparations are made for children and for adults with various types of hypersensitivity. APL is state-owned and one of Europe's largest manufacturers of extemporaneous medicines and is also an established contract manufacturer within the Life Science industry with resources for the development, manufacturing, and analysis of pharmaceuticals. APL is looking for a meticulous and quality-conscious analytical chemist for our quality control laboratory (QC) in Umeå. As one of our valued colleagues has moved on to other challenges, we are now seeking a new team member who wants to be part of our dedicated team. About 9 people work together with us to ensure the quality of our pharmaceutical products – work that makes a real difference to people's health.

About the role As an analytical chemist, you will be responsible for performing, documenting, and reporting chemical and physical analyses of pharmaceutical products in accordance with applicable methods and quality requirements. You will contribute to the laboratory's development through continuous improvement work. The role also includes instrument responsibility, where you ensure the operation, calibration, and maintenance of your assigned equipment. Thanks to our broad analysis portfolio, you will have the opportunity to develop deep and versatile expertise in several different analytical techniques.

Common analytical techniques:

  • HPLC/UPLC

  • ICP-OES

  • Titration

  • UV/Vis

  • Wet chemical methods

  • TOC, Viscosity, Density, and Osmolality

The position is a permanent employment that may start with a probationary period. The job is full-time, 40 hours/week, daytime, Monday to Friday, and the location is Umeå.

We are looking for someone who has

  • A degree in chemistry or equivalent experience

  • Experience in chemical/physical analyses within QC operations, chromatographic techniques HPLC/UPLC

  • Knowledge of GMP

  • Good knowledge of Swedish, both spoken and written

  • Good understanding of English

Meritorious: We are looking for someone with solid practical and theoretical experience of HPLC/UPLC, preferably with expertise in Waters systems and Empower.
