About the role of Environmental Coordinator:

As an Environmental Coordinator within water and waste at LAVAB, you will be responsible for coordinating and developing the strategic and operational environmental work within the water and sewage operations as well as the waste operations. Your work is crucial for us to comply with applicable environmental legislation, reduce our environmental impact, and work towards our sustainability goals.

Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with environmental requirements, permits, and legislation within the water and waste sector.
• Develop and follow up on the environmental management system.
• Educate and support the organization in environmental issues and self-monitoring.
• Coordinate internal routines for self-monitoring, chemical management, and environmental risk assessments.
• Conduct environmental investigations, risk assessments, and internal audits.
• Follow up on applicable permits.
• Environmental reporting to authorities.
• Act as a contact person during environmental supervision and audits.
• Develop and follow up on routines for handling hazardous waste and chemicals.
• Participate in projects as environmental support.

Qualifications

• University degree in environmental science, environmental engineering, water technology, or equivalent education.
• Several years of experience in environmental work within technical operations, preferably with a focus on water or waste.
• Good knowledge of environmental legislation, the Environmental Code, and relevant regulations.
• Experience working with authority contacts and environmental reports.
• Ability to work independently, drive processes, and collaborate cross-functionally.
• Good communication skills and the ability to lead improvement work.
• Swedish in speech and writing, good computer skills.
• Driver's license B.

Desirable

• Experience with permitting processes or work with treatment plants/waste facilities.
• Knowledge of circular economy and sustainability work in municipal or technical operations.

The position is located in a socially important operation, which means that in extraordinary events you are expected to fulfill your regular function as part of the preparedness responsibility. For certain positions, security clearance, background checks, and security interviews may be required.

Scope: Full-time, permanent employment (with a possible 6-month probationary period)
