Staff Scientist in Experimental Quantum Computing

Are you excited about pioneering experimental quantum computing? Do you want to be part of a world-class research environment developing the next generation of superconducting quantum processors? We are seeking a staff scientist to join our ambitious team at the Wallenberg Centre for Quantum Technology (WACQT).

We invite applications for a staff scientist position in experimental quantum computing with superconducting circuits. You will work in the stimulating research environment of the Wallenberg Centre for Quantum Technology (WACQT). The core project of the centre is to build a quantum computer based on superconducting circuits. You will be part of the Quantum Computing Group within the Quantum Technology Laboratory (QTL) at the Department of Microtechnology and Nanoscience (MC2), working in a large team of doctoral students, postdocs, and researchers.

The staff scientist position is a research support role, focused on assisting research activities through method and/or instrument development.

Job Description

We are looking for a motivated staff specialist to contribute to building the next generation of superconducting quantum processors. To achieve this ambitious goal, we focus on several key areas:

  • Simulation, design, and characterization of quantum processors
  • Development and optimization of nano-fabrication processes for large-scale devices
  • Design and implementation of automatic calibration techniques for fast tune-up
  • Implementation and benchmarking of quantum algorithms

Qualifications

We are seeking candidates with:

  • A PhD in Physics, Applied Physics, Nanotechnology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
  • Relevant postdoctoral experience or equivalent industry experience
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English
  • A collaborative mindset with a team-oriented approach
  • A problem-solving attitude, with attention to detail and analytical skills
  • Willingness to co-supervise PhD and Master’s students

The following is meritorious:

  • Design and simulation of microwave circuits
  • Development of clean-room fabrication processes for high-quality superconducting processors
  • Experimental quantum computing
  • Software development

Contract Terms

Full-time permanent employment.
