About Us

Do you want to be part of an engaged team working to provide the best possible care for children and adolescents? The Child and Adolescent Psychiatry in Borås is part of the psychiatric area at Södra Älvsborg Hospital.

We operate at three clinics in Borås, Skene, and Alingsås, and together we receive and treat children and adolescents aged 0–18 years.

What We Do

Our mission includes initial visits, assessments, and treatments for children and young people with mental health issues. We accept referrals from "One Path In" and make assessments to identify the need for evaluations and treatments. Currently, evaluations are conducted by SMART psychiatry and the regional evaluation team.

We offer treatments targeting:

  • Anxiety and depression
  • Trauma and PTSD
  • Obsessive-compulsive disorder
  • Neuropsychiatric issues (NP)

Treatments are conducted in groups or individually and involve children, adolescents, their families, and networks. We work holistically to create safety and support for the entire family.

Our Work Environment and Culture

For us, the work environment is a priority. We strive to create a workplace where employees feel joy at work and where health and well-being are valued. We believe that our employees' well-being is key to providing our patients with the highest quality of care.

Development is also central to our work. We are constantly working to improve our methods, and development work is a shared responsibility where all employees contribute to shaping the future of child and adolescent psychiatry.

About Our Open Position

At BUP Borås, we offer assessments, medical, and therapeutic treatments for children and adolescents with neuropsychiatric diagnoses, mental health issues, or other interventions assessed at the level of specialist psychiatry. This may include psychoeducational interventions, both individually and in groups. Parents are offered educational interventions regarding ADHD and autism with follow-up physical meetings led by a special educator. As a special educator, you will collaborate in SIP meetings with schools, social services, and other agencies. Your role also includes conducting structured initial visits with children and adolescents and their families. You will work from the referral material received from primary care, schools, or as self-referrals. You will be part of a multidisciplinary team including doctors, psychologists, and social workers where assessments of appropriate interventions are made collectively.

What We Offer

  • A stimulating and varied job
  • The opportunity to work closely with children, adolescents, and their families in an important and meaningful role
  • Colleagues with broad expertise with whom you can share experiences and develop together

Your Profile

We are looking for you who are a trained special teacher or special educator with experience in the field. We prefer that you have knowledge of and interest in working with children and adolescents with neuropsychiatric difficulties and mental health issues. Many of our patients have additional psychiatric issues alongside neuropsychiatric difficulties, so knowledge and interest in this area is a merit. Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability. We are looking for someone who is responsible, flexible, and confident in their professional role.

Welcome with your application for a developing job with engaged colleagues! Do you want to help create a positive change in the lives of children and adolescents? Apply for the position today! We look forward to hearing from you.
