Do you have experience taking complex hardware from idea to finished product? At SCALINQ, we develop cryogenic systems at the edge of what materials, precision, and physics allow. We are now looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer who wants to take technical ownership and transform complex ideas into robust, production-ready hardware.

About the role As a Senior Mechanical Engineer at SCALINQ, you will have a central technical role in the development of advanced cryogenic hardware for quantum computers. This is an operational and hands-on role where you design, build, test, and further develop solutions — while guiding and supporting more junior engineers.

You will work through the entire development cycle, from early concepts and CAD design to experimental verification, supplier dialogue, manufacturing adaptation, and close collaboration with electrical, production, and sales teams. Your work does not stop at the drawing board; you will drive solutions all the way to production-ready hardware and implementation at the customer.

This role is for you who thrive on responsibility, quick decisions, and technically complex problems in an environment where priorities change, constraints are real, and progress is crucial.

What we offer At SCALINQ, you will work with technology that enables a fundamental shift in how computers are built. We move quickly, expect initiative, and give our engineers true ownership. Ideas develop into production-ready products and reach global customers within a year.

You will work practically with cryogenic hardware, unconventional materials, and high-precision systems using advanced tools and testing environments, in close collaboration with academia, suppliers, and customers. This is a trust-based environment with high expectations, technical depth, and short decision-making paths, where impact matters more than title or hierarchy.

Who we are looking for We are looking for a highly experienced mechanical designer with a strong technical foundation and a clear drive to build what is difficult. You are comfortable taking ownership of complex and vaguely defined problems and making decisions without having complete information. You combine confidence in your skills with curiosity and humility, and you actively challenge your own assumptions.

You thrive in fast-paced environments with ambitious goals, unconventional products, and close collaboration across engineering disciplines. You appreciate solving difficult problems together with highly competent colleagues and know when to involve others. At the same time, you are structured, proactive, and motivated by technical challenges. You naturally take a guiding role by coaching junior engineers without letting go of the operational work. You lead by example, set technical direction when needed, and create clarity for others in complex situations.

This is not a role with fixed boundaries — it is a role you help define.

About SCALINQ At SCALINQ, the team is at the center of everything we do. By bringing together expertise in quantum technology, microwave technology, and hardware design, we develop high-performance hardware solutions that enable the scaling of quantum computers.

With roots in research, our products encompass advanced RF packaging, high-density interconnects, and cryogenic components designed to meet the real limitations of quantum computers.

With strong ties to Chalmers University of Technology, we combine global scientific excellence with Gothenburg's practical and collaborative engineering culture. Innovation at SCALINQ occurs through close interplay between research and engineering, with a clear focus on transforming complex ideas into robust, implementable hardware.

  • Excellent communication skills in English, both spoken and written

Meritorious

  • Experience in cryogenics and low-temperature environments

  • Experience with microwave components or high-frequency systems

  • Experience in low-volume manufacturing

  • Knowledge in thermal management, integration with electrical systems, as well as LCA and quality processes
