Department Structure

The Social Services Department - Financial Assistance within the Employment Administration is divided into two areas where area 1 consists of administration and service, operational support, and SFA (Coordination for Work) and area 2 consists of the reception and six investigation units. The main task of the department is to investigate the right to financial assistance in both new and ongoing cases and to support individuals towards self-sufficiency. The authority conducts development projects and continuously works on method development. Our most important task is to balance good reception with legally secure processing and support for self-sufficiency.

Financial Support - Reception

The Financial Support - Reception is a unit within the department that currently consists of 20 social workers, one qualified case officer, two team leaders, and a unit manager. The unit is the contact point for Social Services - Financial Assistance.

Job Description

The role of the social worker is to work towards helping individuals achieve self-sufficiency while simultaneously processing financial assistance. The social workers at the financial support reception have the first contact with citizens seeking financial assistance for the first time and conduct preliminary assessments in all cases that come into contact with the unit. The work includes investigating and deciding on the right to financial support and assistance for living expenses in cases where the need for assistance is assessed to be short-term, a maximum of two months. The work also includes providing information and advice regarding financial assistance and other community information to the municipality's residents, as well as processing estate notifications. The social worker collaborates extensively with other services within and outside the municipality to find solutions for individuals, and collaboration is an important part of the work at the financial support reception.

Other Responsibilities

  • Request documentation for decisions.
  • Document cases.
  • Participate in case discussions.
  • Attend unit meetings and workplace meetings.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone with a degree in social work or another qualification that the employer deems relevant for the position. The position requires good knowledge of Swedish, both spoken and written. You need to have previous experience in public authority work.

It is meritorious to have:

  • Good knowledge of social law and social insurance systems.
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft 365.
  • MI training (Motivational Interviewing).
  • Experience working as a social worker within financial assistance.
  • Experience working with people in vulnerable life situations.
  • Good knowledge of the operational system Lifecare.

Your communication is clear, and you ensure that messages and expectations are clear to all involved.
