The areas of operation of the Child and Education Committee include preschool, pedagogical care, primary school, adapted primary and secondary school, secondary school, SFI/Adult Education, and student health. We are about 1,000 employees working in the educational office's operations.

The municipality's adapted primary school is located in excellent premises by the shores of Lake Mälaren at Tosteröskolan and Thomaskolan on Campus in Strängnäs. The teaching follows the curriculum of the adapted primary school, and we utilize modern technology. A total of about fifty people (educators, teaching assistants, counselors, and administrative staff) work in the organization. In the adapted primary school, we all work to develop each student based on their individual conditions. We are looking for someone who is secure, engaged, and present.

We are now looking for teaching assistants who want to work as substitutes with the possibility of extension.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

As a teaching assistant with us in the adapted primary school, you will actively participate in the operations during school hours and in after-school care. You will meet and work with our students with various functional variations combined with intellectual disabilities, such as autism, Down syndrome, ADHD, epilepsy, challenging behaviors, and physical disabilities. You will use various types of physical aids to help students train their bodies, assist with dressing and undressing, toilet visits, and during meal times. Movement training is important for many of our students, and some activities take place outdoors in nearby natural areas.

You will support and guide students in teaching and other activities during the school and after-school day, but you will also take responsibility and plan to lead certain planned activities based on the current curriculum. Based on your knowledge of what facilitates learning for the student, you will contribute with support and solutions.

Working hours are scheduled weekdays, Monday to Friday, daytime.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone who has:

• relevant education and/or suitable experience for the role, such as preschool teacher, leisure teacher, nursing assistant, childcare worker, or teaching assistant.
• experience working with individuals with neuropsychiatric functional variations.
• knowledge of alternative communication, AAC, and TAKK.
• experience using IT as a support in everyday life; for example, we use iPads as communication aids.
• good ability to express yourself in Swedish, both orally and in writing.

It is an advantage if you have experience working in an adapted school or with children who have multiple disabilities.
