Nurse for the Heart Department
REGION VÄSTMANLANDVästmanlands län, Västerås

to apply for the job
Do you want to work in an engaged team?
At the Heart Department, we offer high-quality specialist care – while taking care of each other, fostering joy at work, and maintaining a strong team spirit. With us, you will grow in your role, develop over time, and help improve care for our heart patients.
Job Responsibilities
As a nurse in the Heart Department, you play a central role in patient care. You are responsible for both clinical assessments and medication management and monitoring, including ECG, ambulance ECG, and CPAP treatment.
In your daily work, you collaborate closely with doctors, nursing assistants, and sometimes even physiotherapists. You lead the work together with one to two nursing assistants and are an important part of our interdisciplinary approach – something that creates security for both you and our patients.
We tailor the introduction based on your previous experiences and offer mentorship to ensure you feel secure in your role. Through our individual competency model, we capture your strengths and development goals and ensure you receive the right support along the way.
We also offer opportunities for further education – both internally and externally. A natural next step is to develop into a HIA nurse (heart intensive care), where we will introduce you based on your conditions.
About the Workplace
The Heart Section consists of five units: heart intensive care (HIA), heart ward, heart day care, PCI lab, and heart clinic. We also work with several specialized clinics – including heart failure, arrhythmia, pacemaker, and anticoagulation.
We have a strong focus on quality and development and are proud to be ranked among the best in the country for heart attack care. Our culture is built on respect, responsibility, and collaboration – and on supporting each other, laughing together, and taking joint responsibility for our patients.
It is important to us that you feel good and enjoy your job, which is why we offer you:
- tailored introduction program to help you feel secure in your professional role
- opportunity for professional development through internal training
- a workplace for different stages of life, with flexible working hours within certain frameworks
- free access to our fully equipped gym
- healthcare allowance of 3000 SEK/year

Qualifications
We are looking for a licensed nurse. If you have previous experience in the profession, we consider it an advantage, but most importantly, you should be curious, engaged, and want to contribute to our team.
If you have an interest in cardiac care, it is valuable. Experience in cardiology is an advantage, but not a requirement. With us, you will have the opportunity to grow in your role – and if you wish to specialize in heart intensive care nursing in the future, we will support you all the way.
You need to have good knowledge of Swedish, both spoken and written, and be comfortable documenting in the Cosmic journal system.
You should be confident, have an easy time collaborating, and be able to remain calm even in challenging situations. The role also requires you to work in a structured manner, take responsibility, and lead others in daily work.
We place great importance on personal suitability.
Employment Conditions
The position is a permanent full-time employment located in Västerås.
Start date by agreement.
We apply Region Västmanland's working hours model, which means reduced weekly working hours – particularly beneficial for those working shifts. The model also allows for weekend work, where you work Friday to Sunday and still receive full pay.
If you rotate to night shifts, you will have additional working time reduction, and the more nights you work, the greater your working time reduction will be. If you want to know more, we would be happy to explain how it works in practice.
