Within the Stockholm region, there are several prisons and remand centers. We are now seeking nurses for summer temporary positions.

We offer placements at the remand centers in Huddinge and Sollentuna or at one of the prisons Beateberg, Asptuna, Österåker, and Hall. If you choose to apply, you will specify where you wish to work.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

The Swedish Prison and Probation Service provides certain open health and medical care at the primary care level and some psychiatric outpatient care. In the Stockholm region, around 40 nurses, a dozen psychologists, and several contracted general practitioners and psychiatrists work at the healthcare facilities located in remand centers and prisons. As a nurse, you will be part of a team. The size of the teams varies depending on the operation. As a nurse, you will work with reception and assessment of which patients need to see a doctor. You will work with both somatic and psychiatric health and medical care, participate in doctor’s appointments, and administer medications. You will also support other staff in assessing the health status and well-being of inmates and assist in acute situations such as illness and self-harm.

The working hours at the prisons are Mon-Fri, daytime, but at our secure remand centers, you will work Mon-Sun, on a rotating schedule, and again, only daytime.

We will need full-time substitutes during the period from week 25 to week 33. We prefer that you can work the entire period, but even if you cannot work the whole period, your application may still be of interest. There is also a high probability of opportunities to work as an hourly employee both before and after the summer temporary position.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone who is reliable, secure, and stable both in your professional role and as a person. You have a high ability to collaborate and work well with others even in acute situations. You take responsibility and work independently but are also aware that you are part of a team. You can communicate in a consultative manner with non-medical staff. In your professional role, you make correct assessments and priorities and meet people in distress with calm and stability. You are structured and meticulous, even in administrative tasks such as record-keeping.

To thrive and succeed in your role, it is important that you share the Swedish Prison and Probation Service's fundamental values of a humane view of humanity, respect for the individual, and belief in the potential for human development. You are also aware of and understand how background, culture, and group affiliation affect yourself and others. Furthermore, you are expected to contribute to ensuring that everyone is treated equally with your approach. We place great importance on personal suitability.

We are looking for you who:

• Are a licensed nurse
• Have at least 2 years of experience in the profession
• Speak and write good Swedish

It is advantageous to have experience in:

• Relevant further education or experience for the job, such as in psychiatry, emergency care, or outpatient care.
• Previously worked with incarcerated patients

In this recruitment, the selection process will begin after the application period has ended, and interviews will be held on March 19-20 and March 23-24. It is important that you can be physically present on at least one of these days.
