Description

Askims Parish stretches along the coast in southwestern Gothenburg.

The parish encompasses three geographical areas with a church and well-functioning purpose-built facilities in each area. Just over 30 employees work here in various roles. The parish has about 31,100 inhabitants, of which about 16,500 are members of the Church of Sweden. Within the parish boundaries lies a large commercial and industrial area, and the entire parish is characterized by new construction with strong immigration.

Job Responsibilities

In the partially newly established role of parish home host in Askims Parish, Church of Sweden, you will be part of a work team linked to a district church. The work is led by the district priest, and you will work with service-related tasks within the parish. The position is divided, where the house host part includes tasks related to facilities and kitchen, with orders, food handling, and general order and tidiness in the building. In the part of operational custodian, you will be responsible for custodian tasks related to your church. This involves operationally close tasks such as setting up, services with both preparations and execution, as well as inventory care. Outdoors, it involves flower beds, green space maintenance, and order and tidiness. In the roles, there may be coordination, recruitment, and collaboration with volunteer staff.

Furthermore, ongoing work is expected to develop and identify bottlenecks. You will meet people at different stages of life both through direct contact and digitally, which means you need to be balanced, correct, and positive in your approach. You need to have the ability to create quality work with a high level of service with care and precision, and through continuous improvements, learn from emerging situations and see the whole through the details. The parish has a total of three positions as parish home hosts, two are being recruited now. The idea is that these three positions form a team and contact points will also exist with the custodians, in addition to the work team in the district.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who is responsible and proactive, self-driven but at the same time a helpful team player with the ability to handle matters in a professional and qualitative manner. You are structured and meticulous, have good coordination skills, and both interest and ability to help others. You are keen to find out what expectations exist among clients and stakeholders.

You are handy and unpretentious with a positive attitude, which allows you to handle common maintenance and practical problems in a solution-oriented manner. You have good initiative and communication skills, see solutions rather than obstacles, and contribute with willingness and positivity to the work team.

You are a member of the Church of Sweden and share its values, have an understanding of the common mission, act based on that, and contribute to the whole. Furthermore, you have a good sense of service and flexibility, which is just as important as social competence and commitment to the work. You have the understanding and ability to meet people at different stages of life.

We see that you have at least a high school education, good knowledge of Swedish both spoken and written, as well as IT skills. A driver's license with at least category B is required.

It is an advantage if you have experience from work within the Church of Sweden, including work during services and/or food handling.

You have good physical fitness and enjoy varied tasks where you can just as easily work in an apron and overalls as in ceremonial clothes, depending on the situation and need.

Warm welcome with your application, no later than Thursday, February 26, 2026.

Interviews are planned for March 9 to 11, 2026, but can be held continuously.

Conditions

The employment is a permanent position at 100%. Working hours are primarily during the day, but evening and weekend work may occur. Work area: primarily Billdal Church or Mikael Church. Membership in the Church of Sweden is required. Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability. Start date according to agreement.
