Interim Group Leader for the Children's Unit

We are an area with six units: Reception Unit, Children's Unit, Child and Youth Unit, Youth Unit, Family Support Unit, and Foster Care Unit.

Together, we are about 130 dedicated employees working to make a real difference for children, youth, and families.

The Children's Unit consists of a unit manager, two group leaders, and about 15 social workers. The unit also includes emergency home administrators and close support staff that contribute to high quality, good working environment, and increased legal security.

Your Role

As one of our group leaders is going on parental leave, we are now looking for an interim group leader for the Children's Unit (0–12 years).

As a group leader, you have a central role in the organization. You are responsible for the daily management of social workers and serve as a close support in both decision-making and social work. You lead case discussions, allocate cases, and are available in ongoing client work.

Together with the unit manager and mentor, you are responsible for the introduction of new employees and ensure that new social workers quickly integrate into their work and feel secure in their authority. You plan and coordinate work during absences and contribute to the daily functioning of the unit.

You actively participate in organizational and methodological development, implementation of new working methods and goals, and can represent the organization in various networks. The assignment also includes following up on the organization through statistics and contributing to operational planning.

The work is carried out in close collaboration with your unit manager, other group leaders, mentors, and unit managers within the area. You have a responsive leadership style and the ability to capture both performance and employees' experiences of their work situation.

Your Competence and Experience

We are looking for someone who has:

  • A degree in social work
  • Several years of current experience in authority work concerning children and youth

It is advantageous if you have:

  • Current experience in leading social workers within social services
  • Knowledge and experience of Signs of Safety
  • Knowledge of and experience with the assessment tool EARL
