The Neurosurgical Clinic at US in Linköping is one of six specialist clinics in neurosurgery in Sweden. The clinic's catchment area is the southeastern healthcare region with approximately one million inhabitants. The operations are conducted as inpatient and outpatient care and have about 200 employees. The Neurosurgical Clinic consists of a ward, a postoperative unit, an intermediate care unit (NIMA), and an intensive care unit (NIVA). At NIVA, we primarily treat patients with acute bleeding and trauma.

At NIVA, we believe that training our staff is important, which is why we have two training responsible nurses and several training days per year. Our own MRI is staffed on weekdays with personnel from NIVA who have undergone training for this. We have our own portable CT, which allows us to perform CT scans of the brain in the patient room instead of transporting our most seriously ill patients.

Job description

As a nursing assistant at NIVA, you will work in a development-focused, high-tech, and eventful environment and become part of a team where collaboration and engagement are highly valued. You will be responsible for 1-2 intensive care patients and work closely with other professionals: doctors, nurses, social workers, and physiotherapists.

Medical technology equipment that is often used here includes: ventricular drains, parenchyma monitors, EEG, Doppler, PICCO, ventilators, microdialysis, infusion pumps, etc. A lot of research is conducted at the clinic, and certain new devices come for temporary visits.

We work with areas of responsibility, and there are great opportunities to develop the areas you are particularly passionate about. We offer you an individually tailored introduction program of about six weeks, all to help you get into your work tasks and have the best possible start with us at NIVA.

About you

We are looking for you who are a nursing assistant with experience in intensive care or emergency care. Inpatient care experience of at least 3 years is a requirement.

As you work in constant dialogue with patients and colleagues, it is a requirement that you have good knowledge of the Swedish language, both spoken and written. You also need to be able to handle various IT systems to perform daily care work; here at NIVA, we use the journal systems ICCA and Cosmic.

We work closely together and need good communication to successfully solve the tasks we encounter in everyday life. Thus, the position suits you who thrive in collaboration and are attentive and communicative with both colleagues, patients, and relatives.

As a person, you have the ability to plan, organize, and prioritize work efficiently. The ability to adapt to the current situation and change focus quickly is crucial when unforeseen events occur.
