The street unit is responsible for operation and maintenance and is involved in the development of the municipality's streets, bike paths, and technical areas such as traffic signals, bridges, stormwater pumping stations, street and park lighting, road signs, industrial tracks, water facilities, electronic speed bumps, bike maintenance stations, and the ground heating system, among others. Within the unit, we are also responsible for winter road maintenance, winter sand collection, and maintenance sweeping within Uppsala Municipality's public spaces.

We also carry out investment projects, traffic closures, and participate in procurements within the operational area and follow up and manage both smaller and larger contracts within the operational area. The unit has street and technical readiness within the street and traffic department's area of responsibility to handle urgent assignments on evenings and weekends all year round.

Job Description

As a team leader in the street unit, you will participate in the management and planning of both operational and maintenance assignments as well as larger municipal projects. Uppsala Municipality has high sustainability goals for community building, and we aim to be climate neutral by 2030. This places high demands on you to lead change and development work in the organization.

Your areas of responsibility include, among other things:

• Team leadership
• Traffic signals
• Bridges
• Stormwater pumps
• Ground heating
• Street and park lighting
• Control and monitoring systems within the municipality's technical facilities.

You actively work with preventive measures, efficiency, and development to create a safe, sustainable, and well-functioning street environment. You contribute to our climate transition. The role also involves ongoing dialogue with residents and businesses as well as handling reports of faults and feedback. The position also includes:

• Ongoing contact with contractors, suppliers, and consultants.
• Participating in internal review groups before new and renovation projects.
• Representing and collaborating in business development within the administration's area of responsibility.
• Participating in the municipality's procurements.
• Ensuring collaboration with colleagues in other municipal administrations, companies, and management owners.
• Responsible for responding to management matters and cable placements.

You are part of an engaged team with broad expertise. The work requires a responsive approach towards the residents and businesses in the municipality. Additional tasks may arise within the framework of the administration's area of responsibility that are not described in the position. The work includes scheduled on-call duty.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone with electrical training that meets the requirements for Authorization B (previously qualification BB1). You need to have good computer skills and experience working with Microsoft 365. You should also be able to read and understand electrical drawings and construction drawings. The position requires a B driver's license, and a BE driver's license is advantageous. Good knowledge of Swedish in speech and writing is a requirement. GIS knowledge and previous experience in team leadership are also advantageous.
