Within the Orthopedics and Hand Surgery area, this has meant an increase in competence in areas such as spine, neck, and pelvic surgery. Many patients with complex injuries from accidents, for example, are cared for in ward 37 either directly after the injury or after an intensive care period or care in another specialty.
The Orthopedics and Hand Surgery area provides university hospital care and clinical research at the county's three hospitals: Örebro University Hospital, Karlskoga Hospital, and Lindesberg Hospital. The area provides care across the entire orthopedic field, including highly specialized care. There is a comprehensive restructuring underway in the area aimed at improving accessibility, quality, and cost-effectiveness. The establishment of a clinical research unit is an important part of the development work.
Örebro University Hospital (USÖ) is one of the county's three emergency hospitals where we provide advanced medical care, research, and education. In both 2020 and 2019, USÖ received the prestigious award for Best University Hospital from Dagens Medicin. USÖ won the most significant category for medical quality, had the best results in the categories of accessibility, economy, and avoiding pressure ulcers and overcrowding. USÖ also tops the results in the areas of heart, kidney failure, and vascular surgery. USÖ has about 3,500 employees. We who work here are very proud of our hospital and base our work on collaboration, development, and professionalism.
