Nurses for the Future of Specialist Psychiatry

REGION ÖREBRO LÄN

16 days left
to apply for the job

Region Örebro County is developing healthcare in accordance with the national co-morbidity reform, aiming to provide equal, coordinated, and person-centered addiction care. The addiction care in Region Örebro County and specialist psychiatric department 4 is part of this strategic work and is currently in a development phase where new methods are being shaped to meet patients with mental illness and addiction issues. The reform proposed in the co-morbidity investigation is a significant transition in Sweden and will entail an exciting journey where we do not know exactly what the goal looks like. We know that care for people with addiction diseases will improve and become more cohesive, especially for the most vulnerable. This means that those of us who are part of the journey will have the opportunity to help shape the future addiction care in our region. We are now looking for nurses who want to contribute to a long-term development effort where a holistic view, collaboration, and quality are at the center. We will soon invite you to a lunch meeting if you are curious to meet us and hear more about the future of addiction care.

Once you have submitted your application, we will contact you with information about time and place. We look forward to meeting you and hope you want to join us on this journey!

Specialist psychiatric department 4 has a county mission to meet the residents' needs for round-the-clock care for addiction diseases and co-morbidity, and together with specialist psychiatric department 1, to provide care for patients with psychotic disorders. Department 4 offers inpatient assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation for patients with addiction issues and/or psychotic disorders. Our patients often have both psychiatric and somatic co-morbidities. Care is provided according to HSL and the coercive care legislations LPT, LRV, LVU, and LVM. Patients come to the department via the psychiatric emergency department, from our own outpatient care, through planned admissions in collaboration with social services, or as self-referrals via the sobering-up department (TNE), which is operated in collaboration with the county's municipalities. Admissions occur around the clock, and the average length of stay is three to five days. The work is conducted in multi-professional teams consisting of nurses, doctors, caregivers, MVA, social workers, and discharge coordinators. Teamwork and collaboration with our own outpatient care and with, for example, social services, are fundamental to the operation and an important part of the region's development of care for people with co-morbidity.

Job Responsibilities

As a nurse in department 4, you have a central role in the psychiatric and somatic care of inpatient patients and in implementing Region Örebro County's strategic direction. There is a great variation in patients' care needs, planning, and lengths of stay, which means that the tasks for you as a nurse are also varied. The tasks include, among others:

  • Assessment, planning, implementation, and follow-up of psychiatric and somatic care
  • Medication management and sampling
  • Ward rounds in close collaboration with doctors
  • Supportive and motivational conversations
  • Collaboration with other healthcare providers, social services, police, and relatives
  • Active participation in development and improvement work related to new methods in co-morbidity

For specialist nurses, there is an opportunity for increased responsibility, mentoring functions, and active participation in operational and competency development. Please watch the linked video below to gain insight into our daily life within specialist psychiatry.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who are a licensed nurse. A specialist nurse education in psychiatry is an advantage. Experience in psychiatry, addiction care, psychosis care, or neuropsychiatric care is also advantageous. You are confident in your professional role, have a professional and respectful approach, and share Region Örebro County's values of collaboration, professionalism, and development. You see change work as a natural part of the profession and want to contribute to sustainable, person-centered, and cohesive care for patients with co-morbidity. Great emphasis is placed on personal suitability. In line with Region Örebro County's ambition for sustainable staffing and high care quality, we offer a structured and individually tailored introduction, adapted to your experience and role. As part of the introduction, planned study visits and observations in other departments within psychiatric inpatient care and addiction outpatient care are included, which provides a broader understanding of the care chain, strengthens collaboration between operations, and contributes to increased holistic care of the patient. With us, there are good opportunities for continuous professional development and for actively participating in operational development in line with the region's long-term goals for good and close care as well as co-morbidity.
