Care Assistant at Wadköping's Special Housing
Are you trained as a care assistant and speak Finnish? Would you like to be part of an exciting journey to new premises and a newly opened department? Then the position as a care assistant at Wadköping's special housing could be right for you!
About the Position
The positions as a care assistant will initially be located at Södermalmshemmet until the end of 2026/2027 when we move to the brand new Wadköping's special housing, which is part of the health district Wadköping. There, we will start a Finnish-speaking department, and you will play an important role in shaping how the work should function, both in terms of routines and new working methods. Together with colleagues with similar backgrounds, you will contribute valuable insights into Finnish traditions and culture to create a safe and homely department.
As a care assistant, you will work in a team with colleagues with different competencies, and we always focus on the individual needs and interests. We work with a rehabilitative approach and person-centered care where the tenant's needs, wishes, and abilities guide the goals for rehabilitation.
Examples of Job Duties
- perform support, service, care, health and medical interventions together with the tenants in the operation
- be responsible for finding suitable activities/tasks in consultation with the tenant
- perform care tasks and, based on delegation, some medication management
- perform service tasks (e.g., cleaning, laundry, shopping) and support and facilitate for the tenant to manage daily life independently
- document and access existing documentation
- perform care work such as personal hygiene, dressing, moving, assistance during meals, etc., based on the tenant's needs
About the Workplace
Wadköping's health district is located in Öster in central Örebro, near the city park. There will be several different operations collaborating in the health district. The move will take place at the turn of 2026/2027 when the housing will move into new fresh premises.
Södermalmshemmet is located in central Örebro and is the largest care and nursing home in Örebro municipality with 108 places distributed over 12 groups. In each group, nine care staff work. Södermalmshemmet focuses on cognitive impairment and somatic care. Here, professionals such as care staff, nurses, occupational therapists, unit managers, and assistants work closely with relatives and tenants. The current position is primarily in a department focusing on cognitive impairment.

The area of care and nursing is part of the Social Administration. The operations include care and nursing, preventive work, authority exercise in the area, as well as housing placement and housing adaptation. Within the area of care and nursing, we work to support and help people who need care, support, or nursing in their daily lives.

Qualifications
As a care assistant with us, you are a secure and stable person. You have the ability to meet tenants in a professional manner by being calm, attentive, and accommodating in your approach. You collaborate well with others and relate to them in a responsive and smooth manner. Furthermore, you easily adapt to changing circumstances and see opportunities in changes. Since the work involves digital documentation in the operational system, good computer skills are required. You master both Finnish and Swedish to the extent that you can communicate with the tenant and other staff, as well as document in writing what the operation requires.
We place great emphasis on personal suitability.
Requirements:
- care assistant education, 800 high school credits
- good knowledge of the Finnish language
Meritorious:
- experience working in documentation and operational systems (e.g., Lifecare)
- experience in care contact
Scope and Start Date
Employment type: permanent position
Employment rate: 100%
Start date: April 2026 or by agreement
Number of positions: 3
Working hours: scheduled day, evening, and every other weekend
