School Nurse at Mellringeskolan

About the position

As a school nurse at Mellringeskolan, you will work with health promotion and preventive health work and be responsible for assessing students' needs for additional health interventions, including health visits, open reception, and administering vaccinations. In your role as a school nurse, you will collaborate with the school's student health team to support students in achieving their academic goals. In the student health team, you will contribute medical and public health expertise to the student health work. The student health team consists of a counselor, special educator, special teacher, school psychologist, and school management. The student health team works together with the school's other staff to ensure a good psychosocial working environment for the students and to support students' development towards educational goals. There is another school nurse at the school with whom you will closely collaborate. You will also be part of a network of school nurses from Örebro municipality where you will receive collegial support and ongoing professional development.

Examples of tasks:

  • be responsible for documentation in Prorenata according to the Health and Medical Services Act and the Patient Act
  • be responsible for offering and administering vaccinations according to the national vaccination program and be able to take action in case of vaccination side effects
  • be familiar with and follow the applicable laws, policies, and procedures of the organization
  • initiate and participate in development and quality work within the area of responsibility

About the workplace

Mellringeskolan is a K-9 school located in the west of Örebro with approximately 500 students. Mellringeskolan also has a resource school for grades 7-9 where 24 students attend. The students primarily come from the western districts of Örebro. The staff is divided into teams organized around common classes. The teams are the hub for both work with goal fulfillment and student health. In addition to school management and administration, there is a student health group to support the teaching teams.

Qualifications

As a school nurse with us, you are expected to work independently, which requires you to be confident and engaged in your role. As a person, you are communicative and have an easy time listening and adapting your way of communicating based on your audience. Furthermore, you find it easy to establish contact and inspire trust. You have good collaboration skills and relate to others in a responsive and flexible manner. Additionally, you are good at structuring, prioritizing, and taking overall responsibility for your work. It is important that you can easily adapt to changing circumstances and see opportunities in changes. You also master the Swedish language in a way that allows you to communicate with students, relatives, and other staff, as well as document what the organization requires in writing. Since the work involves digital documentation, good computer skills are also required.

Requirements:

  • licensed nurse with specialist training as a school nurse, district nurse, or pediatric nurse

Meritorious:

  • experience working as a school nurse
  • experience working in a student health team
  • expertise in NPF
  • experience working with guiding interactions (ICDP or similar)

During the recruitment process, a license check will be conducted via the National Board of Health and Welfare and a check with the Health and Social Care Inspectorate.
