Welcome to Gotland Folk High School Fårösund – a place for development, learning, and creativity.

Gotland Folk High School has, like all folk high schools in Sweden, a mission to conduct activities aimed at achieving the folk education goals set by the state. These are to:

• Support activities that contribute to strengthening and developing democracy.
• Facilitate a greater diversity of people to influence their life situations and create engagement to participate in societal development.
• Help bridge educational gaps and raise the educational and cultural level in society.
• Broaden interest in and participation in cultural life.

The folk high school is located in Hemse and Fårösund. The folk high school works to develop people and their skills and knowledge, where education is an important part of the mission.

Gotland Folk High School in Fårösund offers programs in social pedagogy, film crew, story, and writing. The school has its own restaurant and dormitory. Diversity and inclusion make Gotland Folk High School an exciting meeting place with many different perspectives and knowledge. We meet each other and our surroundings with curiosity. Through curiosity and questioning, we increase our knowledge and grow as individuals. We work to strengthen and create many arenas for participation.

We are now seeking reinforcement for our restaurant

Gotland Folk High School has received an additional assignment and needs to strengthen our kitchen in Fårösund with a full-time chef during the period of 2026-03-09 to 2026-06-28.

Your responsibilities

In the kitchen at the Fårösund unit, you will be part of a team with a head chef, a cook, and a meal assistant. Together, you will be responsible for breakfast, lunch, and snacks for participants, staff, and outsiders.

As a chef at Gotland Folk High School, you are part of the entire school's operations and contribute to all school activities and collective development. The position includes planning menus and orders and ensuring that the food maintains good quality.

The position includes some weekend work.

Who are you?

You are a trained chef, and we see that you have experience in the culinary profession.

It is an advantage if you have experience in vegan and vegetarian cooking. We also consider it advantageous if you have experience in both large kitchens and restaurant kitchens.

You have good knowledge of food handling and food hygiene. You also have good knowledge of allergens.

You are good at customer contact and have strong collaboration skills.

About the Education and Labor Administration

As part of Region Gotland, we contribute in the Education and Labor Administration to the learning and development of children, youth, and adults. We are responsible for, among other things, preschools, primary schools, after-school care, adapted primary and secondary schools, cultural schools, upper secondary and adult education, labor market initiatives, youth centers, and the reception and establishment of newcomers. Together, we provide opportunities for lifelong learning.
