Technical Management Leader at the Swedish Post and Telecom Authority

Do you want to help develop the digital society of the future? The IT operations at the Swedish Post and Telecom Authority are expanding with more employees due to new system implementations and new assignments. We are now looking for a technical management leader who wants to be part of an exciting transformation phase.

We work with what everyone takes for granted. The ability to communicate. With us, you will ensure that it works now and in the future. For everyone.

The Department for Business Development currently consists of three IT units responsible for operations, management, system, business, and process development. We work with both custom-developed solutions and standard systems and are responsible for PTS's IT systems, websites, and e-services, as well as supporting the authority in streamlining and developing our working methods.

Throughout the year, several new system implementations will take place, while a new organization will be developed to take effect at the turn of the year 2026/27 when a merger with Digg occurs. The new authority will mean a doubling of the total number of employees working with IT. In connection with this, both the role and organizational unit may change slightly.

“My name is Johan Palén, and I will be your manager. It is important for me to build strong collaborations, create trust, and contribute to a positive and inclusive atmosphere. My leadership is characterized by responsiveness, engagement, and clear accountability through delegation. I am motivated by developing and improving operations and seeing engaged employees and colleagues collaborate, thrive, and achieve good results together.”

About the Role

As a technical management leader for IT infrastructure and support, you have overall responsibility for leading and coordinating the management of the authority's IT environment. You ensure that the infrastructure is stable, secure, and fit for purpose while developing in line with the needs of the business. In close collaboration with other management roles, you contribute to clear governance, follow-up, and good cooperation regarding the shared infrastructure. The role also involves close support to the operations and IT support functions, where you create structure, clarity, and effective working methods.

You are responsible for developing and following up management plans, as well as planning lifecycle management, purchasing hardware and software, supplier follow-up, and budgeting. The assignment also includes license responsibility for the authority's Microsoft licenses, including orders and follow-up of deliveries.

In addition to management responsibilities, you will lead several IT projects where you are responsible for implementing new technical solutions. A central task is to drive and coordinate the work on lifecycle management of the authority's data center. You will also investigate and implement security-enhancing initiatives, such as the introduction of multi-factor authentication and other measures to strengthen IT security.

About You

To thrive in this role, you are collaborative and unpretentious, with the ability to leverage others' competencies and contribute to good cooperation by sharing your knowledge. You work in a structured and goal-oriented manner, plan and prioritize your work well, and ensure that tasks are completed within given deadlines. At the same time, you are communicative and persuasive in your manner, can explain technical issues in a pedagogical way, and adapt your communication according to the recipient and situation, both internally and externally.

We are looking for someone who has:

  • Post-secondary education in IT or equivalent competence acquired through work experience.
  • Good understanding of IT infrastructure and infrastructure services such as data centers, servers, networks, AD, and platforms, as well as how these architecturally connect and are governed within an operational environment.
  • Work experience in management of IT infrastructure or IT systems.
  • Work experience as a technical project manager or equivalent coordinating role.
  • Good ability to express yourself in Swedish, both orally and in writing.

It is also meritorious if you have:

  • Experience working in IT operations in an organization with on-premises operations.
  • Work experience in public operations, within an authority or municipality.
  • Experience in procurement according to LoU.
  • Basic knowledge of ITIL or similar frameworks for IT Service Management.
  • Basic understanding of information security and how security requirements affect operations and changes.

Our Offer

We take life seriously. With us, you can have a life both on and off the job. If you feel good, we feel good. Therefore, we offer competitive salaries, flexible working hours, and the possibility of remote work. We also have generous wellness benefits and two wellness hours each week.

Additionally, you will receive favorable conditions for lunch, vacation, parental leave, pension, and in case of illness. Here you will work in modern activity-based premises at Hälsingegatan 38. As a government authority, we offer a safe and stable working environment where you can feel secure. We are creating the society of tomorrow and must stay at the forefront. With us, you will continuously grow with your tasks.
