Psychologist at Habiliteringscentrum

Job Responsibilities

We are now looking for a psychologist for our adult team, the autism unit.

At Habiliteringen, we work with children, adolescents, and adults with disabilities from a life perspective. As a psychologist with us, you will assess the patient's situation to identify strengths, challenges, and support needs. You will work both preventively and with cognitive, communicative, social, adaptive, and emotional difficulties related to the disability. The goal is to strengthen daily functioning, increase participation, and improve quality of life.

You will be responsible for assessment and investigation and provide interventions directly to the patient and/or via parents, relatives, and networks. Work will take place in individual meetings, team visits, home visits, as well as at schools, preschools, workplaces, or daily activities. You will also conduct training for networks and relatives and lead group activities.

With us, you will use your knowledge in learning psychology, cognitive psychology, neuropsychology, and developmental psychology – while deepening your understanding of how diagnoses affect daily life.

About the Workplace

Habiliteringscentrum is a specialist service that offers support and treatment to children, adolescents, and adults with intellectual disabilities, autism, or congenital, extensive, and permanent movement disabilities. Adults with acquired brain injuries are offered support regarding communication and cognition. Habiliteringscentrum has about 150 employees distributed among our units in Västerås, Köping, and Fagersta.

You will have 18 psychologist colleagues in the organization and have a basic affiliation in a multidisciplinary team consisting of occupational therapists, physiotherapists, social workers, speech therapists, special educators, and dietitians. We have a close and good collaboration, and together we develop proposals for measures that facilitate the patient's living conditions in everyday life and in society. We also have a network-oriented working method that often takes place in collaboration with healthcare neighbors and authorities, such as the children's clinic, psychiatry, and municipal services.

New as a Psychologist

For newly licensed psychologists, we offer a two-year competence package to provide you with a smoother transition between the role of PTP psychologist and licensed psychologist.

The competence package includes:

  • Activity-specific course
  • Participation in a national/Nordic congress
  • Observation within primary care, habilitation, child and adolescent psychiatry, adult psychiatry, or forensic psychiatry (a total of five days)
  • Opportunity to take supervisor training in year 2
  • Personal follow-up by an experienced psychologist

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who is a licensed psychologist or is in the final phase of their PTP. If you have experience working in psychiatry, we see it as an advantage. Experience in investigative work and adult psychiatry is also meritorious.

Our work is governed by documents that are often in Swedish, so you need to have good knowledge of the Swedish language, both spoken and written. Knowledge of the Cosmic journal system is an advantage.

As a person, you are secure, stable, and have good self-awareness. We see that you need to collaborate well with others as well as being able to structure and perform tasks independently. You make correct assessments and priorities and have a good ability to communicate clearly with others. It is important that you have a good ability to understand other people's perspectives.
