Job Advertisement: Cleaner at Gothenburg City Theatre

Do you love order and tidiness and want to work behind the scenes in one of Gothenburg's most dynamic cultural environments? Gothenburg City Theatre is now looking for two dedicated and service-oriented cleaners who want to ensure that both our staff and our visitors have a first-class experience, from foyer to stage.

About the Workplace

Gothenburg City Theatre works to provide the audience with a varied repertoire ranging from classics and popular comedies to niche, artistically sharp, and newly written works. Our theatre house with four stages is the largest in western Sweden. The main stage and our smaller, more intimate stages allow us to work with different theatre formats and contribute a broad palette to our repertoire. Gothenburg City Theatre, together with Backa Theatre and Stora Teatern, forms Gothenburg City Theatre AB, which is one of Gothenburg City's wholly owned companies. Together, we offer the residents of the city and the region theatre of high artistic quality. Work in our theatre houses is characterized by close collaboration across professional boundaries and with the audience at the center.

Job Responsibilities

As a cleaner with us, you will be part of the property group in the Technical Department and contribute to ensuring that our premises maintain high quality and are perceived as welcoming for both the audience and staff. You will work with:

  • Daily Cleaning and Ongoing Maintenance:
    • Cleaning offices, dressing rooms, toilets, and staff areas (daytime, weekdays).
    • Cleaning public areas such as the foyer and salons before, during, and after performances (evenings and weekends).
  • Planning and Responsibility:
    • Plan the needs and setup for cleaning public areas based on the theatre's performance and rehearsal schedule.
    • Plan staffing together with the supervisor and instruct temporary staff.
    • Plan purchases of cleaning and consumable materials.
  • Specialized Cleaning:
    • Floor care adapted to different surface types.
    • Window cleaning, mirror cleaning, and polishing of stainless steel and brass surfaces.
    • Waste management and replenishment of consumable materials.
    • Other property-related tasks may occur.
  • Collaboration:
    • Work closely with other colleagues in the property group to jointly care for and develop our premises.

Qualifications

  • Several years of experience working successfully in a similar position and in a similar environment (event venues/listed buildings).
  • Experience planning work setup and execution independently.
  • Experience leading and instructing temporary staff.
  • Experience working with smaller cleaning machines and various materials/surfaces.
  • Good knowledge of Swedish in speech and writing.
  • Ability to work independently, take initiative, and see what needs to be done.
  • Basic computer skills (e.g., digital planning systems).

Education in cleaning and an interest in theatre and culture are considered advantageous.

We Offer:

An exciting and unique workplace with wonderful colleagues and a unique atmosphere. Together with the theatre's other employees, you will be part of a work aimed at creating and conveying theatre of high artistic quality and engaging, sparking debate, entertaining, and prompting reflection through its productions.

Welcome with your application!
