Description
The Urban Environment Unit is responsible for the municipality's work with investments, development, operation, and maintenance of public spaces such as streets, squares, green areas, parks, and playgrounds, as well as for illuminated trails, hiking paths, and bathing areas.
The unit also handles traffic-related issues and regulatory enforcement within traffic and public space. Urban Environment is also the executing party for the operation, maintenance, and management of recreational facilities as well as parts of the municipality's other properties and premises. This also includes the municipality's janitorial function.
Our unit is where our residents, visitors, and entrepreneurs are. We influence and make a difference in people's everyday lives every day - all year round, in all weather. We are now looking for an experienced operations and development leader who wants to contribute to the development of public spaces in one of the region's most exciting municipalities.
Responsibilities
As an operations and development leader, you lead, direct, and plan selected parts of the unit's daily work in close collaboration with the unit manager and production leaders. You are responsible for prioritizing tasks, scheduling, and seasonal planning. The role has great breadth and requires a good balance between administrative tasks and operational management. Working hours are mainly during the day, but evening and weekend work may occur in connection with seasonal preparedness or events.
In the role, you work both strategically and operationally to drive, coordinate, and develop the unit's work within physical planning, sustainable development, and efficient processes. You prepare materials, analyses, and decision support and contribute to quality assurance, implementation, and follow-up of governing documents, plans, and programs.
You are part of a working group tasked with creating functional and attractive urban spaces, where both green values and the built environment develop with the needs of residents and users in focus. The role also includes responsibility for the management of properties, premises, and recreational facilities.
The position combines coordination, development work, and operational support in daily operations. You contribute practically to the municipality's development and participate in investigations, projects, collaboration forums, and networks - both internally and externally.
Lilla Edet is a relatively small municipality where we share the tasks that need to be performed. You are unpretentious and work with both large and small issues, even outside your main area of responsibility. The position suits you if you want variety in your work, take great personal responsibility, and appreciate quickly seeing concrete results from your work.
Qualifications
To succeed in the role, you have excellent collaboration skills, and you have the ability to create good relationships both internally and externally. You enjoy having contact with citizens and entrepreneurs. You have a friendly demeanor while being clear and consistent in your dialogue and when making decisions. You express yourself well in speech and writing.
You share your expertise and knowledge with others, as well as being open and receptive, taking in knowledge and experience from your colleagues.
We are looking for someone with the following experiences:
- You have worked as a supervisor/site manager in parks, land, and/or gardening or construction for at least 5 years.
- You have a civil or bachelor's degree in engineering, or equivalent construction technical education supplemented with extensive relevant work experience.
- You possess knowledge regarding the principal's responsibility for public space.
- You possess knowledge regarding property management.
- Basic knowledge of the Planning and Building Act and municipal processes.
- You have an interest in and experience with digitization.
- You have good knowledge of budget work and the ability to work with sound financial management.
It is advantageous if you have:
- Good knowledge of land and construction processes and experience in planning, procurement, and production.
- Good knowledge regarding the management of public spaces and connections to relevant regulations such as the Public Order Act and local order regulations.
- Knowledge in contract and consulting law.
