At the National Board of Forensic Medicine, experts in forensic medicine, forensic chemistry, forensic genetics, and forensic psychiatry collaborate to provide the justice system with the answers it needs. We are now looking for a forensic assistant for a summer temporary position at the forensic unit in Linköping.
The forensic unit in Linköping consists of about 25 people who together work to conduct forensic autopsies and issue forensic certificates.
Your assignment
As a forensic assistant, you will primarily work practically to prepare and assist in forensic autopsies, prepare the deceased, handle samples, and participate in the unit's mortuary operations.
Qualifications
- A minimum of completed upper secondary education that the employer deems relevant for the position.
- Very good knowledge of Swedish in both spoken and written form is required, as our management system and instructions must be understood.
Meritorious
- Ongoing medical studies
- Experience working with the deceased, for example from autopsy work, healthcare, or emergency services
- Good knowledge of anatomy
Personal qualities and abilities
We place great importance on your personal qualities as both internal and external contacts are an important part of the work. The work is challenging, both physically and mentally, as much of the operations involve difficult events related to death investigations. Therefore, we see that you have an ethical approach, integrity, and that you act steadily to handle the operations professionally. As a person, you have good physical condition, are handy and meticulous, flexible and empathetic. Additionally, with your positive attitude, you easily create good relationships, collaborate with others, and thereby contribute to a good working environment both in the smaller group and the unit.
The employment
The employment is a fixed-term temporary position for about 10 weeks with start in week 23 or 24 during the summer period. Start date will be agreed upon. The National Board of Forensic Medicine applies individual salary setting.

The Department of Forensic Medicine conducts approximately 5,500 forensic autopsies each year on behalf of the police and prosecutors. We also investigate suspected perpetrators and victims of violent crimes. Within the Department of Forensic Medicine, there are six forensic units located in Umeå, Uppsala, Stockholm, Gothenburg, Linköping, and Lund.
